Support for this preset mod has ended, and is offered as is. While I may pop in here and there to help with stuff occasionally, there are plenty of resources on this mod page, the optional download in the files, and its comment section, on how to fix any face texture issues.
This is only a preset .json, and unless you use my optional download, there are no other files or textures included in the main file - any texture issues encountered are the results of improper texture use/installation, or general Creation Engine wonkiness. This happens on consoles/unmodded PC installs sometimes too. It is what it is and has nothing to do with my preset.
The grey face bug generally occurs as a consequence of having mismatched face texture resolutions.
If you are unable/unwilling to go through the trouble of fixing it, I suggest you simply do not use the recommended texture mod Real HD Face Textures, or ANY HD FACE TEXTURE MODS to save you the headache.
deLuxe Makeupis not an HD texture mod and will NOT work with any HD face textures. It will cause the bug. Its a subtle thing anyway, so unless you use standard size textures just skip it. If you want to use deLuxe Makeup with HD face textures, download my optional bug fix file, I've resized them to 2K myself.
Common Issues:
Josie's eyes look super squinty, thin, weird Probably missing the required eye meshes. Make sure to install https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11660 (However I vaguely recall an issue with characters going squinty-eyed, or I am just having subconscious Starfield flashbacks.)
The preset is grayed out in Looks Menu or otherwise does not show up Make sure you have all the requirements for Looks Menu installed. Some users have reported fixing this by simply reinstalling Looks Menu. Make sure you got F4SE too. This might sound a bit obvious, but just in case, also make sure the game is actually launching with the f4se loader.exe.
Seems to be a finicky issue with different solutions based on where you look, and can affect ANY .json preset files, so I can't help all that much with this one, and I've never personally experienced this myself so far :/
Great mod! Just wanna ask tho, any idea on how I get to remove the nasolabial folds same as how your character looks? I thought the face HD textures would fix it but it didn't
If I recall correctly, the issue with HD textures linked is that, while it is the same mod, the face texture I use and have hung onto over the years is a previous version, that does have some slight differences. Let me see if I can dig it up, should be on a drive around here somewhere.
Awesome mod. Love the presets so i don't have to have 5 hours in the character creation at the start lol. Could you provide the mod for the bracelets and the wedding ring necklace? Either way thanks for the mod!
new to the modding scene any help is welcome I've downloaded this mod as well as the required stuff and it worked well till I had some problems and in resolving those problems and trying again the preset button is greyed out any reason as to why? EDIT: Found my solution somehow lol
I'm absolutely baffled that 2 people had problems they wanted to know fixes for, figured it out after some time, and proceeded to not mention how they did it. Incredible community.
ive installed all the mods expect for real had faces n deluxe makeup but when I load the preset it looks wrong and doesn't use the right hair, am I tweaking and I should just manually select the hair or is there something wrong?
I got the preset to work, but her eyes are very squinty, almost closed. I know this is an issue relating to "Oni Cute Asian Face Parts". I tried to install manually as per instructions on the description page here "Oni Cute Asian Face Parts is used ONLY for the eyes, and is just a mesh change. Install the eye's mesh manually if you don't want the other face parts affected.)" But that didnt seem to work. Could someone help me figure out what im doing wrong? Edit: I fixed it by just downloading the Oni Face Parts in its entirety with the mod manager Edit 2: Now im suffering the blackface bug. I use Real HD Face Textures AND DeLuxe Makeup. I followed the instructions in the second part of the README for the Gray Face BugFix Package but the issue still occurs. perhaps its the load order? The only mods i have that mess with textures would be the requirements and recommended mods for this preset, if someone could help me get the proper load order for them i would appreciate it. :)
Seen a few comments for this, I'll have to investigate because I'm not sure if that was a custom edit or a mod that I used from something else. Its been a hot minute :'D I will keep looking, it's gotta be somewhere in my install, at the very least, maybe.
Not stupid at all, but yes there are multiple ways to do it. Basically you'd need to have all of Josie's unique textures installed over the files of the NPC in game you want to replace. Then you have to actually change the NPCs appearance. Ideally, this would be done with a plugin, but it can also be done during gameplay with the Cheat Terminal mod. This will let you open the character creator for any NPC. Then, just apply Josie's preset, make whatever changes you'd like if any, and bam. If you installed all the texture's correctly then you're all set.
Just always remember to back up your saves when trying this type of stuff! I'll see if I can find some kind of NPC replacer template mod, perhaps I may have to make one.
