About this mod

Minimalistic ReShade preset (only colour, saturation and sharpness changes) + some tips on creating/tweaking ReShade presets. Removes the "dusty" tint from the game and sharpens the image.

I'm from Germany, so don't expect perfect english grammar!

Requires ReShade Framework!!! --> http://reshade.me/ I have been told you actually don't need to download this. Sry for that :D I still recommend downloading it, so you can use the Mediator.exe to make changes to presets or creating your own preset

Ever wanted to remove this strange "dusty" tint the game has? Do you want the colours to look more realistic and lifelike? Do all the presets on the Nexus stray way too far from vanilla for your taste? Tired of the overuse of all those performance-eating "cinematic" effects? Yeah, me too ...
Jokes aside, my problem was that I never found a preset that really suited my taste, even thought there are already dozens of them available. Most just went over-the-top with the colours (or completely desaturated the game for "cinematic" reasons) and/or had too many unnecessary additional effects. Up until now I just used sharpening because TAA made the game super blurry, but the colours and saturation didn't quite made it for me so I started to check other preset descriptions on which effects they used and testet them a bit (I also read the effect descriptions in the ReShade config programm, but I simply don't know what alot of them really do). After some testing and playing around with some effects I decided only these are essential (imo):
*Vibrance (overal saturation and saturation of individual colours (red, green, blue)
*Curves (contrast adjustment)
*Lumasharpen (sharpens the image, most important effect imo)

I also used Liftgammagain, but this is to be used very carefully! It basically applies a colour filter (red, green, blue), but it can make the image look very unrealistic, I advise not to use this or make very small changes only. (It looks like you are wearing coloured glasses.)
I applied the "Dither" effect because I had a feeling that the colours look sligtly more realistic and lifelike with it, but it's not really a huge change imo.

My current settings are:

*Lumasharpen: sharpening strength 1.75
                        the rest on default
*Vibrance: Vibrance 0.45
Vibrance RGB balance X (red) 1.00
Vibrance RGB balance y (green) 0.85
Vibrance RGB balance z (blue) 0.65
*Curves: Curves mode 2
              Curves contrast 0.10
              Curves formula 5 (default)
*Liftgammagain: Red 1.000
                          Green 0.990
                          Blue 1.005
For all 3 settings (RGBLift, RGBGamma and RGBGain)!

I set those values by experimenting with some screenshots I found by googling "Fallout 4 ultra settings" (google image search). Use the "Offline Preview" button in ReShade config menu! The effect "SplitScreen - BasicFX" on the right helps alot here!

I mainly uploaded this to encourage others to make their own presets or tweak presets they found, It makes the game so much more enjoyable than it already is (100+ hours of gameplay already :P). I also hope to get some feedback on this, maybe some helpful tips from people with more experience than me (it's my first time working with SweetFX/ReShade)

Important notes:
*You can deactivate/activate ReShade in-game by pressing the scroll lock key (next to the print key)!
*Screenshots have been made with the "darkest" option of the Darker Nights mod by unforbidable (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/191/?)

Changelog:

1.0 (not released on the Nexus)
1.01 First release after some minor colour tweaks
1.02 Reduced the "red" setting in Vibrance from 1.20 to 1.00 since the red was a bit too dominant.
--> The game has alot of textures that are affected by this, like rust or dirt. Those are less red-brown now and slightly more brown again. It's not
realy noticable on screenshots (bad compression and stuff) so I didn't uploaded new ones, but It will be a bit better in game. I hope the colours are a
bit more realistic now, but I'm always open for constructive feedback :)
Mod name and first part of the description changed. For reasons. (I was bored)

How to install:
Unpack the files and move to game folder (not the data folder, the game folder is where your fallout4.exe and fallout4launcher.exe are located!)

How to uninstall:

Remove all files added by this mod (as always I guess?)
