Good idea, except 210 years have passed. Even Hiroshima and Nagasaki was habitable far less than that.
Though it's a good idea especially for challenge players, it's probably best to make this restricted to certain areas, such as (if F4NV is released) the entirety of Lonesome Road (granted, it was nuked a year or less before the event of New Vegas).

Far harbour would be a good place a low threat in the light fog.

Bethesda's writers are so inconsistent that they made radiation a possible sentient god, I don't think anyone should concern themselves about the lore in that regard.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki got only single nukes dropped and detonated ubove them and that's different from having multiple nukes dropped to different areas/cities. Their yield wasn't very large either when compared to nukes that came after.

Because of multiple nukes droppes in the FO universe (everything was destroyed), I tend to think the oppsote: 210 yrs would be no where near enough time to have the radiation dissipate to safe levels.
      ------
      EDIT:
      ------
Actually, come to think of it, would several nukes (enough to annihilate the planet's surface) make a difference if all radioactivity from the bombs would dissipate at the same rate no matter how much of it there is...? I mean there would definitely be more of with many nukes dropped but all that radioactivity (I think) would all still dissipate at the same rate... Blaah, I think that's how it is but I seem to have forgotten the specifics. Got to brush up on my nuclear reading material again! LOL xD

      But think about this:

They've found dinosaur bones so radioavtive, that they had to coat them with led paint if they wanted to display them... Though who knows what the deal with the bones is... It's a mystery. Some of them could've gotten that way from natural sources in the ground but that doesn't explain all of them or why many/most are still radioactive for no apparent reason after millions of years in the ground...?

no, their is a diference, take  chernobyle  "scientists estimate the zone around the former plant will not be habitable for up to 20,000 years" according to national geographic

the bombs do effect it the amount of radioactiove substance does impact the rate of decay,  ionising radiation can last a long time if their is alot of the substance their was barely any in both cities compared to chernobyle or fallouts world

it depends on the nuclear material used in the bombs and how fast it breaks apart... but since that hasnt changed much in nuclear weapons (to my knowledge) the deciding factor would be (as mentioned before) the amount of the material... for each nuclear material there is a calculateable time it takes for half of it to break apart... so after that time period has passed half of the radiation has dissipated... another time period and half of the remaining radiation... so if enough bombs fell during the war of 2077 and they were sufficiently big it would be reasonable to assume its still quite radioactive... but it also means that anyone who was outside in the years after the war probably got cooked medium rare xD

For those who love desert environment landscape overhauls like I do, I tweaked this mod to change the damage type to a fire based version with a smaller magnitude (for my own use only!). You can do the same even with just F04edit. I also added a few conditions like turning the effect off when I sneak so I can get into a bed and sleep (can't sleep or wait while taking damage), turns off at night and morning. Now when it's the afternoon and that blistering sun is beating down I get "burned" slightly over time and forced to make choices. Immersion! :)

Could you add a feature where we can tweak the radiation amounts with a holotape or use the MCC menu?

I suppose this being so weak as 1/s makes a new-game easier to handle at first, but I want more of a challenge for my higher level.

I have Ghoulish 2. A lot of radiation will still hurt me, but 1 per second will do nothing but constantly heal me!

I haven't used ghoulish so I'm not 100% sure exactly how it works. So do you want an optional file that does more rads/second if you have ghoulish or something?

I have been after something like this for a while. This should make things a lot more challenging. May I recommend the mod radiation cleaning as a good way of adding the ability to make safe zones.

That should be compatible since it gives the radiation immunity perk to anyone nearby, and my radiation source is external.

What does this mod have that Gas Masks of the Commonwealth doesn't?

Better compatibility with other mods. If you don't want to have to deal with all the features gas masks puts in, but still want background radiation, this fills that niche.
