Just what I have been looking for: a rifle with a semi-auto option, fires 5mm ammo, is not a re-chamber of the vanilla Assault or Combat rifle and works properly with Classic Holstered Weapons System (there might be others, but this is the first one I found that meets all those criteria).
Great mod, looks much more fitting than the tacticool FAL and is reminiscent of the FO2 version. My only complaint is the lack of a big scope (with overlay) for sniping.
It's the same giant ass .308 that goes into the hunting rifle, of course it does so much damage, what nerfs it is that kind of recoil on full auto you're lucky to get anything on target... well a distant human target anyways, in an apocalypse full of giant mutant monsters like mirelurks and death claws, and also the human targets wearing metal armor as thicc as target practice plates it's kind of an appropriate amount of damage, lol
Of course if it's still too much damage all wasteland things considered or you just have too much ammo, I use Survival Options https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14650 and/or Cheat Terminal https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13285 To lower the damage I do as a character, because why have guns individually nerfed when I can just nerf myself or power up myself across the board to my liking at any given time
