Fully automatics do less damage per bullet, and the armor formula lowers that even further, so they are useless. Left is pistol vs rifle, and rifle always wins because they get Shotguns as well as Snipers and medium size, while pistols only get medium and sniper pistols.
Now, that choice is made much harder. I added "Better Bash - Bash Overhal" and "Melee Bash Knockdown", and the choice is now really hard between Bash, Rifle and Pistol.
Probably so even that it's worth going for Bash always and then either Rifle or Pistol
I think i've discovered a bug in your formula. At 4 ranks of this perk, your shotgun should be doing double damage. I currently have a combat shotgun doing 87 damage. Here's the breakdown for how that works at each perk point: 1 point: 87 * 1.25 = 108.75 2 points: 87 * 1.5 = 130.5 3 points: 87 * 1.75 = 152.25 4 points: 87 * 2 = 174 So, theoretically, my shotgun should be showing a damage of 174, but instead at rank 4 it's showing a damage of 570. I figured out that these perks are additive as well as multiplicative. For example: 1 point: 87 * 1.25 = 108.75 2 points: 108.75 * 1.5 = 163.125 3 points: 163.125 * 1.75 = 285.469 4 points: 285.469 * 2 = 570.938 So basically my shotgun is doing more damage than a rocket launcher with 3 perk points in heavy gunner lol.
I have noticed that as well. Due to the nature of shotguns, the damage is doubled FOR EACH pellet that the gun shoots. I have a test version that I am tinkering with to try to balance the damage, because it is not the same as just using the percentile multiplier in the C.K. The other note is that, while the shotgun may do 570 damage, that requires all pellets to land, at a range generally under 40 meters. I have shot my shotgun, which does around 370 damage at perk level 2, at a standard variety raider, and it required me to be staring him directly in his face from around 10 meters. At any range past that, the spread only did around a third of his health. I need to do a bit more testing, but I think the spread and low range may balance this out. The rocket launcher does 500ish damage in a sphere, and has theoretically infinite range. I will need to do more testing, and see if you are right, which you probably are. If you are right, do you know how I would fix that?
Sooooo, you were absolutely right. I, in my noobness, had left out the thingie that tells the perks that they replace each other. So, it was doing what you said. However, the double damage is not particularly good, nor what I want this mod to be. In a future update, I will probably balance the weapons around a double-and-a-half scale. I love the concept of this mod. Shotguns working with standard rifles never fit right with me, so I like how this is set up. Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to be working with laser rifles though. I put the beam splitter on to make it a shotgun type, and the damage didn't increase any with my CQC perk.
Yeah, so this where it gets weird. On my to-do list is to add that keyword to the laser rifle splitter, plasma scattergun, and anything else really that needs it. I think bethesda set those weapons only to fire multiple projectiles, not as a shotgun type weapon.
Alright, New Version is going live, contains support for the splitter muzzle on plasma guns, and all scatter muzzles on all laser weapons, including the laser musket. Have fun!
