I was wondering if you could rename the .38 round to .380 ACP because it doesn’t really make any sense for Bethesda to chamber a sub machine gun in a non-rimless cartridge.
I could but I stay away from renaming traditional ammunitions (non energy/non explosives) for a multitude of reasons, one is that I'm not as familiar with them as I am firearms themselves as well as there being various opinions on what rounds are what in the game. If you want to I recommend picking up XEdit as renaming items is (usually) one of the easiest things you can do with it.
This is by far the best weapon renamer mod out there. It's not too over the top to the point of renaming even the ammo like immersive weapon names. But it still gives the feeling that these weapons are real weapons and not just "hunting rifle" "laster rifle". Good job mate.
Thanks! I tried to keep it simple as Fallout 4's weapon modding and legendary name system end up already tacking on a hell of a lot keywords onto weapons.
Very neat mod! I'm pretty sure it would conflict with some things I'm running right now but I will be thinking about this next time I rearrange my mods.
Just a quick correction, though: the Revolutionary Sword is not a sabre, but is in fact a Spadroon. It is a very silly name but, it is what it is.
BTW my theory on the Thompson in the world of Fallout is they kept making them on up to 2077, and military doctrine never made sub machine guns obsolete. Like the Chinese probably still use the PPSH-41 alongside the AK derived assault rifles
I have to agree that they definitely continued producing them long past when they stopped production in our reality, I imagine they mainly stayed in service with police forces and private securities who would make far more use of SMGs than modern military forces. The Thompson is one of the United State's most iconic weapons and the U.S. in the Fallout universe is very focused on the good old fashioned American way of life and the style of the 50's in so much as wooden weapon furniture and older stockier gun designs go so it would be very plausible for the Thompson to remain a staple in the armed forces and probably in the National Guard.
Yeah, if we look at it all, US weapons development in Fallout seems to be at about the 60s for rifles, the Service Rifle is an AR-15 with bakelite/wooden furniture, and then the assault carbine is a M4 type thing(kind of a jump but a simple one), and the R91 is like a FN FAL or HK G3
The FO4 Combat Rifle reminds me of a M14 type thing
I wish more modders would make modern weapons but "Fallout" style with wooden furniture and wooden stocks as an option(imagine the original model of Uzi, or making up a wooden stock for the SPAS-12). The only ultra modern weapon I use as a mod is the P90, and I figure it a super advanced Institute Weapon to make use of ammo on the surface
