Thanks for making these Tapes, I've been using it ever since I discovered it 2 years back. It's both a solution to the adhesive famine while having something extremely rare and exciting to find while scavenging AND an esl to boot. Very fun mod to play with in general :D.

Someone would have to force me to not use this in my loadorder.

Are they script-injected or manually? Credits confused me a bit..

Is this a genuine question, or sarcasm? The smiley-face confused me a bit… :p
It is done the old fashioned way (manually), I did not use the scripts. Always meant to come back and update this but alas, life.
But it is only a couple minor LLs, hopefully not intrusive. Be lovely if someone wanted to pitch in and add a scripted version…

Yap, genuine, sorry for the confusion!
From the description i got the picture that its the first mod you try script-leveled injection, but at the end the line "a_blind_man - thanks in advance for the script toolkit that I haven't used yet but I'm excited to get into" confused me!

PS: "adds them "the old fashioned way" to these Leveled Lists" should tell me more.. call me blind!

You noted that it has a higher value, and, presumably, also has more adhesive value than the regular role of tape - what are the exact stats/value of the different rolls?

It's in the readme, if you're not into little surprises...
I mentioned they are intentionally generous (in my opinion), but are so on purpose. They should be rare and therefore cool to find- very helpful but not obscene.

      It's 100. 250 for the military version.

A lot of people worry about game balance. So I came here to check also my man. This is actually a pretty lore friendly way to solve the adhesive problem.

That is precisely what I was hoping to provide, so thanks for the feedback. (With a little nod of thanks to asXas while I was at it…)

What's wrong with duct tape not being blue? Every duct tape I know irl is gray...

Blue Duct tape must be a US thing? I have never seen it. Duct tape is always silver/grey colour here. Electrical tape though, comes in many colours.

So I read the posts on original mod. Still makes no sense.. Inside joke? He made the tape on his guns blue so then changed the duct tape rolls to blue. Why is this considered some "inside joke" ? Doesn't seem like a joke exactly.. well, I'm not on the floor in hysterics at least.

Seems like a "I meant to do that" type of thing to me?

Just create a new loot item, electrical tape, colour it blue and reduce the width of the mesh to half. Make it a misc item required for crafting some weapon parts that showed blue tape and add it to the junk LLs

No need to create a pretend joke.

Then, the fact the original blue tape mod was then promoted by nexus and added to their social media as a chosen mod is just kinda weird. I guess it's all a big joke.. I don't get it myself but it must be quite funny I suppose.

Well, I present to you a path to solace, hopefully it leads you there:
With this mod I didn't actually make blue duct tape. I indeed offer a new adhesive tape item called X-Tape, which is blue. And military-grade X-Tape, which is black.
[I feel] I have also offered an acceptable backstory to enjoy- or at least to suffice, for thee who requireth such things. I humbly submit that this mod is useful and fun (a little bit) in any case, and any induced smirks, chuckles, or hysterics can be considered blessings.

Within this obviously-not-universally-accepted-to-be-humorous context I have also endeavored to offer a grateful nod to asXas, whose high-quality mods have greatly elevated my enjoyment of this game. This game which we all here assumedly share joy in playing and modding.

Hopefully you'll try this mod and enjoy it, or at least try it and let me know if it works ok and if you have any ideas for improvement in story, usefulness, or mod technique.

Your feral ghouls mod looks pretty incredible, I have been really anxious to use it when I start a new playthrough soon. Thanks.

It's blue because it's not duct tape, it's masking tape. A popular modder here on the nexus insists on slathering his weapons with blue masking tape and it has become somewhat of a meme on the site. The fact that some people call it "Blue Duct Tape" is little more than a common misconception, one that likely stems from the modder's insistence on calling it simply "Tape" in his mods. This likely leads to people thinking that because there is only Duct Tape in the game, this mysterious Blue Tape must also be Duct Tape. Looking at the texture of the tape, however, it's obvious that it is masking tape. Duct Tape has a noticeably shiny, plastic look to its outside, whereas masking tape looks more like rough, painted cloth as you see here and in his mods.
      So... Now you know.

Thanks, ok. It's all starting to fall into place. Sometimes I get frustrated when I'm on the outside of a joke, which, since the invention of the internet meme, seems to be very often. I can never keep up. Anyway though. I am glad this mod is something real I can understand now. haha

MutantMan, this here is no run of the mill masking tape! It's X-Tape! Special stuff!!!
      (Good info though, appreciate it.)

Truth be told though I initially asked for the texture because I wanted painter's tape for another mod... ;)

If you do make Xas-Co a thing you should make like Vault 34 and put all his weapons in an armory that requires various numbers od blue tape to unlock. Or just make a standard quest. But for the fun of it, you should make Synthetic Tape enemies.

That's clever, make it so the weapons show initially with grey tape, but they won't function properly until you mod them with blue ;)
asXas did make a weapons bundle... with an appropriate name!
The synth idea is interesting, what did you have in mind? It could be pretty cool to encounter synths that have been repaired with tape. Especially if they retreated from losing in combat and then came back taped up. And what if you could have it show on robot companions after you repaired them?
Could look cool on raider/gunner armor too, which could provide a defense boost and bonus component scrap.

What I had meant by synthetic was a humanoid or animal figure that's only made out of tape. No parts, just tape. Something like a mummy but only the wrapping. Extremely high defense, but they take bonus damage to incendiary or AP/explosive rounds. Various colors of tape providing different movement types, basic black limiting them to a crawl, Blue at a full walk/run. any other colors at a limp or a walk. But what you brought up about normal synth enemies retreating and coming back with tape does sound like a good idea, add a bonus to defense.
As for new weapons, someone made a flex tape replacer for mines, but maybe you could make an actual tape grenade, or do something like the plunger gun but for tape.
As for the actual building, a tape factory. The workers in the facility having turned to feral ghouls but started as non-feral and used the tape to keep their flesh from falling off.
      Just Ideas.

I sawed this Libertalia in half! And I defeated the raiders occupying it only using flex tape!

X-Tape is not flashy enough. Call it MacGyver-grade Duct Tape.

I dunno, man, a big capital X is prrretty flashy...

Clearly I did not spend too much creative energy on the name, although in the end I do think it fits pretty nicely. And one sees the point of it, I would think.
But yeah, there is some potential there for sure. I might even try to tweak the textures accordingly, just for a little more detail.

Bug - duct tape not being blue? Why should it? Must be some kind of meme I didn't get.
P.S. Ok, got to the original mod and read about it. Weird.

A little weird, sure, but also clever and pretty funny.
Like a lot of people on the nexus...
And there ended up being this discussion with actual arguments for it really needing to be blue (a european thing), which to me made it even funnier.
But seemed to me it was in large part because asXas used blue tape visually in a few of his great mods, so it connects a couple immersion dots.
A distant third (just kidding) motivator is to actually add a rare, interestingly-plausible adhesive source, which I think is a legitimately useful mod. So it isnt all silliness.
