Ok guys, some folks are having issues with this command not working and I agree. Sometimes it seems to work fine, other times not at all and to be really honest....I've no idea why. I can't tell if some update from Beth screwed up the code in a way that I don't pretend to understand or it is a problem with having a heavily modded game, etc.
If anyone comes up with anything please feel free to let the rest of us know. If it fixes the issue I'm happy to give full credit wherever it is due.
I found it only works if you switch back to survival while in the same save after using the command. If you save (even an autosave) after using the command, it prevents the command from working again.
Really...? Havn't heard that one before. Admittedly I don't think I've ever tried doing it. Usually when I run the command it was because I was ready to use it then. Thank you for letting us know.
Spent 3 hours looking for WHY the command wasn't working and this is probably why, if anyone knows how to get around this I would appreciate it, regardless, thank you for the information.
I was on a Very Hard character and forgetting I hadnt used Survival before I used the file and it locked me out of Survival entirely - the option wasnt even listed. Loading an earlier save fixed the problem. Just an FYI if anyone else gets that bug.
Thank you for this! I tried making a second save to drop survival mode so I could test what mods were causing crashes and was sad to see ALL my survival saves got downgraded and blocked. This was a big time savior!
Yep, put that text file in your Fallout 4 \ Data folder. When you are ready to use it open you Console Command prompt and type in BAT SURVIVAL and hit enter. Your survival mode should now be ready to use even if you have previously used it, but then had to cancel out for whatever reason.
btw.....don't let the bat bite you. Rabies, ya know?
THANK YOU! Dogmeat keeps getting stuck in random rooms and I cannot get him out or to go back home or anything. Downloaded this, switched from survival to normal.
Opened up the Console Typed 'prid 0001d162' Hit Return/Enter Typed 'moveto player' Hit Return/Enter
Typed BAT SURVIVAL Hit Return/Enter
Got "cgf "Game.IncrementStat" "Survival Denied" -1" message Hit Tilde (~) again to close the console
Switched back over to Survival in settings, all was good and Dogmeat was right next to me. (works for any companion, just need to know their prid ID)
Dunno why Bethesda thought it a good idea to make it so hard to get out of and back into survival, but whatever, that's what independent modders and developer are for. You cannot summon a stuck companion back to you in survival because you cannot use the console, so this is the only way (that I know of)
Thanks again!
Got the dogmeat prid from here and how to get em back.
I'm sorry, but I really don't know how to help with this. There is not much too it, it is a straight forward command line prompt which I've simply packaged for ease of use. If it isn't working for you I honestly could not begin to tell you why not. Try just using the command line prompt without the batch file to see it it works. If it does you may have dropped the file into the wrong folder. It should be in Fallout 4 > Data.
When you use "Mod Manager Dowmload" it is saved at the wrong place. Put it manual in your base directory, where the fallout.exe is saved. By the way: there is a missing "c" in the file. "cgf...." not "gf..."
Tried to load an earlier save with survival mode still on. It was off (WTF?), the console command, worked on that save as intended, though. Presumably the batch file would work as well.
Simple and efficient, worked perfectly and I thank you for that!
I've thought some additional features (fast travel and quick save since at my current 150+ level I don't call them cheating anymore) would be great for Survival Mode thus I've tried Unlimited Survival Mode with and without Mod Configuration Menu without managing to make either work so after a couple of wasted hours I gave up. These mods could be great though but without proper details on installation/usage they are next to useless for the majority of users (btw, I use Vortex to manage my mods).
This mod looks really amazing, however like all such mods it uses a .esp slot in the load order. If you don't have an extra slot to spare a batch file such as mine is still a viable option.
I didn't mean to make this seem like I'm being mean but I'm just pointing out a better alternative that adds more options. I like being able to turn it off/on on occasion and turn on fast travel and get rid of weight for stimpaks. At least you learned something from this though.
