I had originally posted that the mod was working wonderfully except for Nick's face and said I couldn't find a solution. Then suddenly one appeared from several years ago, so I'd just like to thank both the original poster and the person who reposted their response. I'm bringing it back up top here so others who may have this issue (you certainly will since I literally just did) can fix it.

L0RDTH0MAS supporter27 posts4 kudos 10 September 2018, 4:53AM So for some reason the 'Nick Valentine' file wasn't working properly for me. It would only retexture his body and not his face. If anybody else is having this problem here is how I fixed it:
Go to Data>textures>actors>character>facecustomization>fallout4.esm Cut and paste these files to your desktop:
I'd like to first say that I adore your texture work, so thank you for the lovely texture mods you've given us! I started a fresh run yesterday after the latest big update using no mods with plugins at all because things are weird right now. I wanted so much to continue using your textures for synths (and ghouls!) but wanted to avoid all plugins and use just loose files, so I unpacked your mod and installed it as loose files since it's just textures and materials. However, I've run into issues with your textures in that they cause the game to reliably crash (reproducible) when installed as loose files, and I am unable to open the texture files in ANY of the multiple programs I use for opening/editing dds files.
I'm not sure what program you may have used to create/save these or what format(s) you used, but for some reason, all of my programs hate these textures and can't open them. I actually ran into this very same problem with another mod (textures causing crashes after being unpacked from a ba2 file), and while some of my programs would not open those textures, I *was* able to get them open with paint.net and save them as a different dds format, which then allowed me to install them as loose files without anymore crashes. I'm not sure why this isn't the case with your textures.
This isn't a criticism of your choice to use a ba2 and a plugin or anything like that, only a heads up of sorts. I have no idea if it's related to putting textures into a ba2 file or the format the files are saved in or some other secret third thing, but I'm sad I cannot use them currently. It would be lovely to see a loose files version or an update for the latest FO4 patch (though honestly I don't know if it's needed, I was just being cautious lol).
A quick followup on this. I think I may have figured out the secret third thing causing these issues, at least partially. I had originally been using "B.A.E. - Bethesda Archive Extractor" (from FO4 Nexus) to extract FO4's ba2 archives, as well as any ba2 archives from mods/modders, and after unpacking textures with this tool, some of them are simply broken. I thought a tool issue might be one possible reason, but I didn't yet have an alternative to test. I've now tried using "BSA Browser (with .BA2 support)" (from Skyrim SE Nexus) for ba2 unpacking, and I can view/edit in various programs after unpacking them, mostly. Progress!
I did notice that some of these textures are fully black and seem to have no compression at all. An example of this can be found in FaceCustomization/Fallout4.esm -- check 000E6B41_d.DDS, 000E6B41_msn.DDS, and 000E6B41_s.DDS. There are more, but you can look at these to (try to) see what I'm talking about. None of the programs I've tried opening them with show anything at all in these textures, just blank black with no compression/format. You can see what I mean here -- https://gyazo.com/3cadde9c0478408e1f4e9fe5b5c382f0 -- I have no idea if the textures being all black is intentional but figured I'd report anyway. The textures in Fallout4.esm that I can open/view also have no compression, but again I have no idea if this is intentional.
I hope this is helpful to you, or to anyone else really!
EDIT: Completely forgot one other thing. I was having a look at the materials files included in the mod because I was curious what changes you made to them. It looks like "Actors/Synths/Gen2SkinHead_g.dds" was added for Glow on most of these, but I cannot find the file "Gen2SkinHead_g.dds" anywhere in the original game files or within the files of your mod. Is this texture hiding somewhere where I'm just not seeing it, or is it actually missing? Could this be causing any issues?
Hello, when extracting, try using Archive2, which should be in your Fo4 install folder under Tools. Extract using that tool, and you should not have any broken textures. BAE is for old archive extraction such as Skyrim.
I appreciate the recommendation, OrneryOchreOcelotl. BSA Browser does seem to work just fine, but I recently installed the Creation Kit, so I gave Archive2 a shot anyway to see if it made any difference with extracting the all-black textures. It didn't, sadly, and some textures are still all black, so again I'm not sure if it's intentional or not. Thank you anyway, though!
Old version worked great for me but the new one doesn't. Some synths get the tan body textures and rarely patches of the blue skin textures. Nick Valentines face seems to be the newer tan skin but wont load the new face textures.
For the Synths with the Tanned Body Textures, Try unpacking the BA2 and copying the Gen2SkinHeadDirty_d.dds. Duplicate it three times and rename it: Gen2SkinHeadHoles_d.dds Gen2SkinHeadHoles2_d.dds Gen2SkinHeadHoles3_d.dds Copy the Gen2SkinDirty_d.dds and rename it as Gen2SkinHoles_d.dds. Repack your BA2 and check to see if your Synths changed.
Did Rokubi's suggestion work? Also, what program is used to repack BA2 files? I have the extractor, but... I mean, it doesn't repack the files. Whhhyy! Do I seriously have to go through all of the trouble of installing CKit and creating a dummy esm just so I can repack this BA2? Or can I load the esm from this mod and then repack from there?
Also, I don't want to work directly from the Fallout 4 directory, as I don't want to screw anything up. Ugh, I hate how constricting Creation Kit is.. Is there any way to load an esm from another folder?
Ohh, I just realized what Archive2 is. Also, I'm having an issue unpacking, for some reason unpacking this BA2 stops at 13/130 exactly and doesn't budge after that, so I'll have some issues repacking it without all of the files extracted.
But for some reason when I "Add Folder" in Archive2, to repack the edited files along with their directory structure back into the BA2, the slashes in the directory structure end up being forward slashes instead of the proper back slashes. I'm so confused as to why it's doing this and am afraid it just won't work. I'm repacking the folder exactly how the extractor unpacked it, with the same structure textures\actors\synths\ but for some reason it shows up in Archive2 with the forward slashes like textures/actors/synths/
I hate seeing questions unanswered. You need the Creation Kit from Bethesda. It has something called Archive 2 to allow for seeing the BA2 archives and repacking them. Took me like 2 hours to research because I'm THAT desperate. Hope someone finds this helpful.
Broken mods have forced me to learn how to edit mods, but OMG RokubiKitsune is a god, my mod works fine now! Nick was broken at first too but I just installed his mod manually and it worked, installing it through mod organizer 2 broke it somehow. So I hope this helps someone else having a problem.
Edit: Let me be clear, it works 'perfectly' for a mod missing 4 textures in the bat file, with this fix.
Tried this but still experiencing the same problem as before where the faces are from the mod but the rest of the synth body, including the backs of the head are still vanilla. Is it because I'm using MO2? I don't really want to manually install in case I mess something up.
For anyone having trouble finding these files go to the bug report section of this mod and download the files from the google drive link posted by siruthf
I did everything from installing it manually, using Vortex, renaming and replacing dds files, creating new ba2 file and it STILL doesn't work. Only Nate Valentine shows any sort of change at least. Not sure what else it could possibly be. Never spent this long trying to install 1 mod lol.

Go to Data>textures>actors>character>facecustomization>fallout4.esm
Cut and paste these files to your desktop:
00002f24_d.dds
00002f24_msn.dds
00002f24_s.dds
Rename them accordingly:
00002f24_d.dds -> Gen2SkinHeadValentine_d.DDS
00002f24_msn.dds -> Gen2SkinHeadValentine_n.DDS
00002f24_s.dds -> Gen2SkinHeadValentine_s.DDS
Now paste these files in Data>textures>actors>synths (overwrite if it asks)

Gen2SkinHeadHoles_d.dds
Gen2SkinHeadHoles2_d.dds

Copy the Gen2SkinDirty_d.dds and rename it as Gen2SkinHoles_d.dds. Repack your BA2 and check to see if your Synths changed.

edit: The fix from RokubiKitsune works perfect. All gen2 type synths now have the textures from this mod.

(Had to ask here since Bethesda changed their rules and won't allow dm requests or something.)
This mods works fine.I use Mod Organizer 2.
I don't have any other Companion mods.
If it doesn't work, suspect a mod crash.
++ They say it doesn't work with vortex.
