About this mod

An all in one (subtle) overhaul of all relevant interface elements including some UI sounds.

Generally lends itself to a more "hardcore" and minimal experience, where most "magic" information is removed. There is a basic version available that can be used with other UI mods.

Requires no other mods.

Changelogs
This is my take on Fallout 4's user interface. Every file included was edited from vanilla files, and requires nothing other than the official Automatron DLC... and it doesn't even require that if you don't want to use the ESP. The ESP just adjusts compass fade settings, a few pop up messages, changes to the "special" workshop category, and some sounds.

Tools used include Fo4edit, Creation Kit, NifScope, and JPEXS free flash decompiler.
If you'd like to remove or edit a file for personal use, I can point you in the right direction, you just need to ask.

Different versions:

BASE: If you are coming here from Clarity, then this is the version you are looking for to further clear up your game. This file edits a lot of small things not covered by most UI mods, and leaves the main HUD and power armor HUD untouched. This version works good as a base for other interface mods such as HOLOHUD or DefUI. Only changes in the change list that are marked with a  *  means that it is included in the BASE version.

MINIMAL: Includes everything in the change list

HARDCORE: Includes everything in the change list as well as completely disables the compass and sneak meter.

3.0 BETA: Includes everything in the change list except unknown locations are still shown on the compass. Explosive warnings and hit markers are now disabled via a new ini file which you are free to edit. Compass marker fade distance increased.

CHANGE LIST:

Power Armor
Power armor UI was stripped down. These changes include...

• An all new compass texture

• Fake metal interior texture removed completely

• No more RADS meter. In power armor this was mostly pointless, just listen to your geiger counter.

• Fake rain texture removed  *

• Shading removed *

VATS

• Centered and symmetrical

• Awareness perk info raised up to prevent clipping *

• Vignette shading removed *

• Loud screeching noises replaced with softer beeps *

• No "missing target" click that allowed you to know if enemies are in the area by spamming VATS *

Workshop Mode

• Special category is no more, the two items found here will be found in other appropriate categories *

• Icons showing which DLC an item is from is removed *

• "Hold V to enter workshop mode" text removed *

Unneeded Information
Anything that you don't need to know to be able to play the game. This generally lends itself to a more "hardcore" experience

• Max ammo - current clip still shown and you can see max ammo in favorites menu or regular menu

• Grenade count - You can still see grenade count in favorites menu or regular menu

• Rad meters - Specific numbers are rarely helpful and just cause clutter. Listen to your gieger counter

Note: It is recommended that you disable the crosshair and floating markers through the in-game settings, but that is up to you

Pointless Information
Things that clutter up the overall picture but serve little purpose.

• Bethesda icon in main menu *

• Creation Club news in main menu *

• Flashlight icon in power armor and non power armor

• Power armor low battery warning text removed

Magic Information
Magic information is anything that the player's character should not know. Magic
information encourages the player to give more attention to the UI instead of what is
happening around them. This includes...

• Enemy markers (recon scopes still function as intended)

• Unknown locations

• Explosive warnings

• Directional hit markers

• "Click" in VATS when there is no target in the area *

Misc Changes
Many UI elements were adjusted in size and position to increase readability and reduce clutter. The big changes include...

• Solid black scope shading removed (delete the included scope swf to revert this change) *

• Stealth meter moved up, but still easily seen while looking center screen

• Map Markers reduced in size to reduce clipping in dense areas (delete the included map swf to revert this change) *

• Loud perks reduced in volume slightly *

• Cash register XP sound removed *
