The mod works as intended. According to others here, you can also just delete the Creation Club mod esl and the game won't try to re-download without your permission. So handle the situation as you wish. Please fight over whether Creation Club is good or bad elsewhere.
Is their a way to 'Delete' creation club entirely, I'm sick of seeing it in the main menu. Plus I have a mod that I use that causes the $symbol bug, and its one of my most essential mods so I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.
And more proof that the CC is utter stupidity. Yes, they have some good mods, but I don't pay for mods. If I had a steady income and cash to spare, I would contribute some money to skilled creators, but I won't buy mods.
Add into it that you need F4SE to run mods without disabling achievements due to them being 'cheats,' meanwhile you can literally activate console codes and keep yourself immortal and flush with materials and you still get achievements. Even worse, their vaunted 'Horse Armor Mod' proved to be a massive cheat, giving you X-01 armor from the start, but you can still get achievements. Seems more like they just want to strangle mods that don't line their pockets.
Sorry for the rant, but Bethsoft has gone stupid with this whole Creation Club garbage. I hope that their plans of continuing to charge people for paid mods dies when they realize it is killing business.
I mean...if you dont like it dont buy it. And I know that seems a bit blunt but from your comment it seems as though your main issue is that...you have to pay for it (your whole first paragraph is about how you wont pay for mods). So...just dont buy it? Pretend it doesnt exist....
Modders make the bulk of the creation club content and they get paid for it though the specifics of how well eludes me. My guess, they probably get paid more for that than they do through donations. It also allows modders to present their mods to a much wider audience including those who dont dabble in traditional mods.
So m8, while you might hate the creation club, and while the creation club needs a ton of improvement I'd say the positives far outweigh the negatives both for bethesda and the mod authors who participate. The only people who stand to lose are people who want mods but dont want to part with their money.
I second that and I am adding another pont, the oonsole users - most of them will only get mods, that are "officially" signed, just to make sure that they don't ruin their system.
If there wouldn't be so many people wanting anything and everything for free, no matter how much time a modder has spend on a mod, the CC wouldn't be necessary at all, besides the console factor
I only do small mods, but when I decided to take them off, due to there being too many bigmouthes and ungrateful morons around, some people tried to convince me to stay and keep it up, some even made donations,. but this doesn't happen often enough - for me, it made no difference, since I always do things because I can or want to, but for others, especially those that do real big mods, it is a way to show some appreciation and it should be a thing of common sense to do so.
Sadly, it isn't but self-importance and greed are to be found way more often.
Nice mod. I too got the handmade shotgun while it was free, and didn't like it at all. However, its presence in-game doesn't bother me in the least, so I will not be making use of your mod at this time. Still, good job giving people like us the option to not see this trainwreck of a weapon in game at all.
p.s. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game usually removes CC content for me. Or you could just deactivate the Plugin, in NMM.
does this work well? I tried to disable a CC mod that I only purchaced coz it was a requirement for a mod I wanted on Nexus. ( I also had removed the mod that needed it as requirement) and when I tried opening xedit thru Mod Organizer it gave me an Access Violation error with reference to the CC mod.. just deleting sounds easier if its safe.
I don't know why the CC mods work the way they do and are all ESL so you cant edit them easily.
Have a feeling its the type of framework Bethesda are hoping to push modding to though. Its kinda all integrated for you and approved by them. Feels dumbed down and isn't much fun.
Also, there is literally only retextures on there. Where is all the content? Modular Backpack by FadingSignal is the only decent mod.
That will work temporarily, but the game will probably put them back when it updates or when you check file integrity on Steam. I've had success so far with removing the corresponding .manifest file in the Creations folder in the game directory. You can check which mod they go with by opening them with a text editor. Once you do that, you'll have log in to Bethesda.net and download it again if you want to use it again. There's also a mod called 'Creation Club Handmade Shotgun Leveled Lists Redone' that gets rid of the freebie and fixes the leveled list if you want it in your game but don't like how they did it. Plus this mod essentially breaks the CC file without removing it so it Bethesda.net won't fix it. Lots of options.
i tried it just before i posted the question and it said it was missing when i tried to load my last save that had it. when i checked the creation club it just gave me the option to download it again
It might be easier to remove those files. I just did a quick search on disabling CC mods and the first few links were people complaining that it wasn't possible, so I made this.
There's no "interface" for disabling them in the sense that you'd use Nexus Mod Manager to disable or uninstall a mod. You can just go into your Data folder and delete the relevant ba2 and esl files though. The content won't reinstall automatically. Creation Club content has to be manually reinstalled from the store if you reinstall your game. The initial batch of CC content was predownloaded to our PCs though, and those ba2s will always be downloaded on a new game, but they won't be active without going to the store and downloading the esl.
For what it's worth, if you need to reinstall your game and don't want to waste time redownloading the Creation Club content, you can just copy the relevant ba2 and esl files to another folder, and then paste them back into your Data folder once you've reinstalled.
