One of my favorites. It's just a shame only 3 episodes are available, i'm guessing the others fall outside the realm of public domain so i really need to learn how to make my own personal holotapes. Would love the entire series lol. I sit in my VIP theater watching. Imagine this in VR! https://youtu.be/ThPn7D31IV8
Its awesome in VR, I just binged the Betty Boop videos... Makes me miss my father, he loved Betty Boop. Definitely would love some more Betty Boop videos!
Yeah i need to set it up for VR in a few months. Had trouble with an odd jittery movement not related to performance issues, couldn't iron it out so gave up. I'm shocked Votw works with VR. Do you know if any of the CC items are working yet or the Stained glass & Unicorn farts mod? Some day i hope to do most of what i'm doing now with settlements in VR.
I'm having that issue too, i follow the instructions to the letter, but when i put the holotape in the tape player, nothing happens. The TV just stays on that "please stand by" screen. Did you ever figure it out?
The same happened to me with a vanilla TV. So I tried it with one of the TVs provided by the main mod and it worked just fine. Maybe it doesn't work with the vanilla TVs?
I'd love to do Georges Méliès movies for Starlight Drive-in. They're about 14 to 24 minutes long, with some as short as 2-4 minutes, so cut up they shouldn't be too bad (4 to 7 reels, or even just 1 reel). First would be Too the Moon (of course).
Thanks for putting this together, I'm hoping you will make some projector mods as well, I know they are more limited, but I'll be tracking to see if you come out with any.
Gonna try to do more. Believe it or not making them isn't the trickiest part. That's just tedious. Finding things worthy of the time tho, that are public domain . . . THAT'S the tricky part! (I've made a few more for my personal use tho. Hehehe.)
I'll do drive in films too, but they gotta be 3:30 or less, since you can't stack tapes there. Soon as I find some more stuff . . .
Maybe someone could make a mod to correct the Drive-Ins, that would be the perfect locale lore-wise as the Fallout universe begins in an alternate 1950s and Drive-Ins were all the rage then.
The grids that set up the vids for using with VOTW are set up to only make the shortest version on the drive in. The TV one comes with grids that will make up to a 10 min vid. There's grids for 3:30, 6:30 and around 10:30. (Times off the top of my head. So probably off by a bit, but that's the general idea.)
The real problem is you can only put in one tape at a time. They won't stack like on the TV. So you kinda are stuck with 3:30 "movies" unless you wanna hand switch from reel to reel. That's pretty much why the drive-in isn't too popular to make vids for imo. I wanna make some tho because there just aren't any for it and I think it's a real waste of a cool ass prop. They probably wanted to see if it would take off, and it hasn't. Go figure.
What about a new Drive-in settlement where the screen is just a re-sized and re-skinned TV? The movies could even add happiness to the settlers either way as well.
