I’m working on some minor updates on this armor, such as attempting to improve the US army logo, bit quality and position. I also got a new script that should allow the armor to comment if you’re out of med-x.

I’m posting this here because I would still like to restore the original lines of dialogue for the armor. So if there are any voice actors here reading this who would like to help me out please contact me. I can make the audio files sound like they’re coming from a radio but I don’t have the voice to sound anywhere remotely like a mister gutsy.

For those who need help finding it or downloaded the quest version and the quest didn’t trigger for some reason, ill give a small hint: somewhere near Coastal Cottage.

Another small add here that I should have remembered to mention. The plug for this mod is .esl so you need to activate it within the game or download the community update for NMM that adds .esl support. Thanks for testing and confirming bp12946 and Dnxyken.

For those who have trouble finding the armor, check the following link:

You do realize it ISNT, illegal to take voicelines and sound effects from fallout three for a FREE MOD. ON THE NEXUS.
I'd love to downloaded this, as it looks like a great mod, but the only /charm/ the power armor had or has, is the iconic voice lines.
I have no idea why you think it's illegal or you need voice actors to do it. If it was illegal to use things like voice lines and reference files for mods (especially from the same franchise.) Half the mods on the nexus would be removed.

Bethesda said it's illegal. You want to challenge that in court? Go on.

It’s allowed if we own a copy of fallout 3 and are willing to transfer over the voice files ourself. They cannot touch us for editing files on our computer so long as we don’t upload them.

Yeah nothing illegal here. What Bethesda says is one thing and what law says is another thing. That's just bullshit

It's not so much about "allowed" or not - it's still infringing the copyright. You see, most of the mods on Nexus are an infringement of copyright to some degree, as in Bethesda (or whoever) owns FO4 (or whatever) game's rights, and most published mods are only allowed at the copyright holder's indulgence. They indulge because they know a game well-supported by mods will sell more copies of the title and help sell their "brand" overall to the community. But it is only ever at their indulgence. That's not to say you can't move sound or other files from your legal copy of FO3 to your legal copy of FO4 (how would Bethesda even know about it?) but the availability of a published mod that encourages you to do so is entirely up to whether Bethesda decides to indulge/allow it (or care about it).

There are a tiny number of mods that won't infringe Bethesda copyright in some fashion. Bethesda don't just own the game & it's files, but also any Fallout lore, and probably rights to their archive file types, tools thereof etc. Only mods which are fully independent of that (say a loose sound file, or piece of original art, which can exist outside the game and was not inspired by anything in the game, nor it's storylines, nor or it's lore) could be deemed not to infringe on Bethesda's copyright. I say "could" because even then, once you publicly offer it as a mod to their game, you begin to tread on their copyright. Most game companies' smallprint will allow you to mod, but make it clear they retain the right to allow/stop anything published on-line (free or not) that they feel alters the game in any way they don't like (because ultimately it's their brand).

      >What Bethesda says is one thing and what law says is another thing. That's just bullshit

That's called a EULA; by playing the game you agree to this contract (which is bounded by law). And among other things, that contract specifies that you can't convert a .BSA file (the custom file-type used to store assets in Fallout 3) in order to transfer it into Fallout 4 (which uses .BA2 files) whether you own both games or not.

It's the act of conversion that isn't allowed. Transferring something from Fallout 3 to New Vegas is fine, since both games use .BSA files and thus can simply be drag-and-dropped (which is how Tale of Two Wastelands works), but not to Fallout 4 (or Skyrim) because those games use different archive files.

Thanks a lot, I also wanted to complete the sets of power armors from previous games. I'm glad you made the MP-47 and Pitt's Tribal Power Armor !

Hey, first off I just wanted to say I love the mod. Very good quality. But something I did notice is that the mister gutsy voice sometimes sounds far away and I was just curious as to why that is. Don't know if you have an answer or could fix it.

Don’t have a fix for this yet I’m afraid, hopefully someday i can figure it out but since its random it is hard to pinpoint the cause.

Thanks for sharing this! I’m always looking to add content from the older games into FO4 and this is a welcome addition to my collection.

I was able to extract the audio files from my FO3 install and add them to your mod by changing the file paths in the Sound Descriptors to point to the FO3 audio files for the Combat, Enter and Heal Effects. Still some tweaking to do as there is a slight delay before the FO3 files play, where as with your FO4 files there is none. It was easy to do for anyone so inclined.

Also, I never knew the FO3 voice files have a separate recording for male and female: “Reporting for duty, sir!” or ““Reporting for duty, ma’am!” So, I made a different version of each for my two current characters.

Thanks again for sharing your work!
