If you're going to report a bug or any other issue, attach a log file "xSE PluginPreloader F4" in the game's root folder (ENTIRE LOG, NOT JUST A PART OF IT) and specify which mod manager you are using if any. If your plugins don't want to load, try to set a different load method first (see below) and see if it works.
To change the load method, edit the value of the "Name" attribute in the XML file. <LoadMethod Name="ImportAddressHook"> ... </LoadMethod>
For example, if you need to set it to "OnThreadAttach" (or "OnProcessAttach") edit this section like this. <LoadMethod Name="OnThreadAttach"> ... </LoadMethod> <LoadMethod Name="OnProcessAttach"> ... </LoadMethod>
--- Since v0.2.5.1 the default load method is changed to ImportAddressHook.
Hi, Stupid question but can i install this mod with Mod Organizer 2 instead of installing it directly to the folder? As i want some control over of my mods. Thanks in advance.
Installed this mod now F4SE wont open fallout 4, every time i try to delete the two files and relaunch the game it just adds the files back out of nowhere.
1) Install the mod. 2) Double Left Click the Mod then look in the Right Pane for Mod Type 3) Use the drop down to select Engine Injector then click the orange tab > arrow 4) Redeploy the mod
Thanks for the info, before I always ended up just manually installing things that did this. I prefer this though as I like having Vortex manage the mods for me.
hi. please excuse what might seem like the stupidity of this question, but what exactly do you mean be "redeploy the mod", specifically "redeploy"? i can see "reinstall" and i'm thinking you might mean that, but i'm not sure. your instructions were a lot better than the mod author's, so thank you for getting me at least this far.
If you do as David said, Vortex should prompt you to deploy the mod a second time, after you've already installed/enabled said mod. If it doesn't, just do it manually. Reinstalling will just put you two steps back. Hope this helps, mate ^^
Hello sir , how are you, thank you so so much for this mod, anyways can i ask a question, theres no TBB redistributables, is it fused in the file?? or ill just copy the files into the root folder and Ill be good to go??
How do I know if it's correctly loading the script extender? Should the command getf4seversion still generate the version number if loaded correctly? It's currently not for me. I've tried changing the XML file using both suggested options and that hasn't made a difference as far as I can tell.
It doesn't load F4SE, if you have F4SE installed the getf4seversion command will give you F4SE version, not this mod version. Don't change XML if you don't have any reason to. The mod generates a log file every time the game is started, you can look there. If there isn't one you didn't install the mod correctly.
What benefit is there to using this with buffout4? According to this install guide, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/3115, which is linked by the buffout 4 dev, this preloader isn't necessary to use buffout4.
Sadly it does not work with the GOG version of Fallout 4 with Buffout for me. Load Method AddressHook and Thread Attach throw a Buffout error that it is loaded too late and abort game start. Process Attach starts the game but doesn't load any F4SE Plugins whatsoever.
same here, tells me it's loading too late and to adjust load order. i double checked the reqs are met and in correct requisite order for buffout4, but still error. gog version. using mod organizer. using all base mods on the recommended guide for FROST.
Alright, I got this to work on the GOG version. I simply had to install both Buffout 4 and PrivateProfileRedirector F4 directly into the games data folder. Attempting to run any plugin that uses xSE PluginPreloader F4 inside of MO2 will result in the plugins not loading. They have to be directly installed in the game DATA folder. You can then launch the game through MO2 and Buffout 4 and xSE PluginPreloader F4 will load.
EDIT:
Correction, all F4SE plugins have to be installed in DATA folder and will not load in MO2. This is the GOG version of FO4. I will assume that the Steam version works as it should, but it hasn't been updated since the GOG version of FO4 has been released. So, if you are using the GOG version of the game, install all the F4SE plugins in the game folder. Don't try to run them through MO2 (version 2.4.4) or they will not load, unless until MO2 gets another update which supports the GOG version of the game.
EDIT 2: I take it all back, MO2 isn't working correctly with the GOG version at all. Loose files are not invalidating and loading in the game without adding them directly into the game folder. Only the game plugins and BA2 files are loading through MO2. In other words, you cannot use MO2 on the GOG version until it's been updated to support the GOG version.

Sorry,
your mod is very useful. But your description of the mod editing process is misleading if not idiotic. Please be more clear in the future...
