As of now, this mod is no longer supported as a framework. There have been numerous edits and changes done with it for F4NV internal version and considering it being integrated with other F4NV systems, I simply have no time and interest in maintaining and fixing this stripped down version of the much bigger system that will be part of F4NV if when it's released.
I don't know if it interacts with the DTvalue added by the mod specifically.... but in any case, armor pen *will* help!
I find it helpful by explaining different game systems and how they have DT implemented, vs Fallout.
In a game like Outward, for example, DT of 5, and then damage resist of 50%, would mean a 25damage attack gets modified like this: (Damage - DamageThreshold) * DamageResist = FinalDamage
What this means in Outward, is (25-5)*.5 = 10 final damage!
With 60% armor pen: (25-5)*.8 = 16 damage. About a 60% increase :D
However, how google seems to explain DR and DT in Fallout, Resist is calculated before! So, it is like this: (Damage * DamageResist) - DamageThreshold = FinalDamage
What that means in fallout is (25*.5)-5 = 7.5 for final damage!
So, if you have, say, 60% armor pen in fallout 4:
(Ignore this bracketed part if math is easily confusing) [40% left over of 50% resist (after 60% armor pen) is 20% damage resist. Or, in other words, 0.8 multiplied on any incoming damage.]
So, armor pen, even with the DT system, is extremely useful. Even something as low as 10% armor pen is great.
(25*.55) - 5 = 8.75, which in this case is 16.6% more damage with that basic 25 damage weapon. Of course, exact percentage damage increases will super vary based on how powerful your weapon is! As you can see, armor pen "Just Works". xD
I'm been running this with Modern Firearms and am encountering an issue where my power armor doesn't appear to stop any bullets. It's as if I have 0 AR.
Thank you for your hard work! This works pretty well. Now I just have to figure out which of my other mods makes it so I can one-shot most enemies, even when their DT is higher than my damage. Might just be a weapon mod.
I have to agree with several older posts though; the instruction regarding the _isDRcalculationEnabled console command is wrong.
When _isDRcalculationEnabled is set to 1, I take MORE damage from enemies than when _isDRcalculationEnabled is set to 0.
So it seems the game does the DR + DT schtick only when the setting is set to 0.
It seems that when I set the number to 0, the enemy becomes more able to withstand damage. But I didn't have a detailed test, it was just a rough feeling.
- Does the patcher automatically calculate DT in real time, as in when there is a change in the target's DR? I ask this cuz the Rifleman perk reduces target's DR which can affect DT? - Does the patcher affect perks which improve player's DR, such as Toughness? If so will the calculation happen before the game starts only or during the whole runtime?
I'm glad this doesn't bloat my savegame now that I've tried it out and then removed it. It really was a big factor in me giving your mod here a shot, your second sticky post, even though at the time I didn't know much about modifying leveled lists.
It's nice too that the AP weapon mods are still baked into my recipes, and I've found at least one empty ammo can so that's sweet, and I can now be happy to roll back about four hours of game or roll the dice with LL on a savegame that's just 20 hours old. High five, thanks for the laughs. Hey don't read this as aggressive btw, I mean I see you could be into casual aggression by your first sticky post but I'm totally not interested in that kind of immature bullshit at all and I wouldn't do that to you.

ifwhen it's released.are there any alternative mods that do this with next gen?

This is a 100% increase of damage!

Thx 🙂
yes
yes it does affect power armor and holy hell can it get crazy good when paired with upgrades from WIPAG
Perfectly balanced, as things should be.
