This mod will be handy for those unable or afeared of using console mode. But considering how few indoor-limited workshops there are - if you can open a console then that's the simplest way as it doesn't require an esp. See Fallout settlement exploits wiki here. Copied below in a spoiler tab.

Scroll way down to the section called "Console: Building all objects at internal workshops" and you'll see this paragraph:
"It is possible to build all settlement objects at certain internal workshops which limit the items one can build, such as Home Plate and The Mechanist's lair, by opening the console, clicking on the offending workbench so that its reference is displayed and then entering addkeyword 5A0C8 and addkeyword 246F85".
Note those are two separate commands: addkeyword 5A0C8 addkeyword 246F85
I actually entered both into Home Plate (entering one, hitting return, entering the second, return again, exit). I did this way back as soon as I got Home Plate about 100 levels ago, and can build any item (inc dlc - once you unlock them via their quests etc) and never had a problem. However, internet results of years ago only list the first command (addkeyword 5A0C8). So, the one thing I'm unsure of (the way the wiki is worded) is whether the 2nd command is needed for Home Plate too or is meant just for Mechanist Lair, or if they unlock different categories of outdoor items, or perhaps standard and dlc. I guess you could just try one and see if that works for you. Make a save beforehand. Enjoy.
Hello! Not sure if this is of any use, but figured it might be worth sharing -- I had a look at the two keywords in FO4Edit and found that 5A0C8 has the editor ID "WorkshopWorkbenchTypeExterior", while 246F85 is "WorkshopWorkbenchTypeSettlement".
Both of them are referenced by constructible object records, but the Exterior keyword has about twice as many references as the Settlement keyword in my current set-up.
It looks like the Settlement keyword is used for building items like stores, arenas, and Vault 88 items for example.
Doesn't seem to work for everything. nor did this mod either, some modded items like the Mr. Salvage bot still does not show up, does anyone have an idea hot to make everything show.
Likely the mod is referencing a unique keyword and you'd have to add that as well to the workbench. You'd have to open up the mod to see what was done. Assuming the mod author is following Fallout naming convention, you can try searching for WorkshopWorkbenchType in the filter and see if there are custom entries.
Also FYI for folks wondering what the differences are between the keywords. WorkshopWorkbenchTypeExterior, as the name implies, allows building of exterior items like metal shacks, fences, junk walls, etc. WorkshopWorkbenchTypeSettlement covers things like most stores, items in the Resources menu like food, water and scavenging, some special items etc.
I used to have various mods that would automatically do this type of thing in the background, but I've completely changed a whole lot of my mods for a different playthrough and have no idea which one used to do this! Finding this was a godsend.
Thanks all for replies & info. 20 months on I've not encountered any issue (but don't build much). I must get around to adding all this info (with credited extra info) as one of my user images-with-info. Meanwhile I've put my orginal comment in a spoiler to save space.

Seems these commands no longer work at Homeplate after the next gen update, or perhaps one of my mods is blocking them from working, idk. Either way does anyone recommend anything, other than trying this mod?
(EDIT) Just downloaded this and it works perfectly. I was a bit worried (as the mod author mentions it changes the workshop so I assumed it might be a new workbench) that everything I'd already dumped into the workbench would vanish, but nope, everything is still there, and all the exterior items can now be built at homeplate. *chefs kiss* Thank you BourneMcReady!
Thanks!!! Since I unlocked The Mechanist's lair area, I was looking for a mod to create food, obviously it's not that easy to find a reference, I've been looking for you for a year (occasionally) I finally have some happy settlers! (for those like me who had doubts, just download the second file) Simple and useful mod!
I've built a couple interior pieces from Snappy Housekit in fadingsignal's basement living cells. Have not tried most of the mod however, so perhaps most of that mod's objects are restricted and some parts are not. I've had good results using this mod with several other mods that add building components: I've used parts of ryanfss' Warehouse Extensions mod as well as Woody's Wasteland mod in a few basements and in Home Plate without problems. I've not tried ryanfss' Vanilla Barn Additions but it should work since the approach is the same as for their Warehouse mod.
Nope! I don't know near enough about how settlements work to add that. As Loveblanket said, this mod is just a very simply keyword tweak to remove most of the building restrictions. Worst case scenario if something bugs out, this mod can just be removed and you can continue on with your game. I'd be afraid to do anything more complicated.
I was able to get this to work with the Noir Penthouse to remove the phone and pre-war rectangle fluorescent light I didn't like in the bathrooms and kitchen and I was able to place the creative clutter office one piece office phone, pen and notepad on the front right hallway table near the bathroom, the one that was facing backwards and kept falling on the floor that was three pieces, and with the numlock hotkeys for the Place Everywhere mod the Ins/0 num key I could of removed the wall's and floors of the Noir Penthouse, but the floor was one big piece and the wall's too!..
In the Charlestown Condo, the Place Everywhere wouldn't remove window boards, wall's or floors , only furniture and crates etc where scrabble!..
I forgot to test this in the Nu Cafe Ola Rest Stop
One of this 'why didn't i think of this' things, instead of replacing the workbenches just change the way the workbench works. you just freed up some of mod list.

Simple and useful mod!
last post was a year and a half ago so i hope i can get some help

Next playthrough : hillbilly Rick Deckard!
I have land in the interior and I can build a handheld well
I'm so very used to build there with Settlement Objects Expansion Pack but it's nice to have all the extra categories
