The eyes Bethesda used are not only overly thinned, but specifically used when its dark to help see better. You don't normally see the cats eyes very well, and if you do, it looks like they're glowing (actually reflecting light HEAVILY though) which its likely in part because of the slit shaped eyes. You found them freakish because they had eyes met for late night, not sunrise-sunset. And its rare to see/notice cats eyes like this since, at night, you can't see the eyes as well.
Its because you're used to daytime cats, not late night.

Alright this is hilarious. Thanks for your work on this mod. I'm not downloading since I don't really need it but this genuinely caught me by surprise. Good show.
What about an Eyes of Kitty mod with different eyes to choose from in showlooksmenu? Even standalones are much more interesting than re-textures as it increases variety. Now giving cats different fur types...well what a feat that would be. A lore friendly alley cat would be hairless like those mongrels.
P.S. Watch out for the Creation Club Crap from the Beth Nazi's with their micro-transaction, F4SE mod breaking and free mod maker abducting shenanigans!
did you dialated pupils? I agree that they would'nt be in vertical because there are nothing to hunt, and are usually in relaxed areas.
Vertical-slit pupils are most common among nocturnal predators that ambush their prey, according to the new research, published today (Aug. 7) in the journal Science Advances. Most likely, this pupil shape provides the sharpest way to gauge distance for a prey-snatching leap, the study found.
So good question why cats has slit pupils in a world where they have no prey, guess this is a question to ask bethesda why they made the trouble.

there would no bird or rodents anymore in the future? That Bethesda did not include these (well on exception on those crows and seagulls) ingame does not mean that there aren't any preys for them.
