Please post suggestions, concerns and bug reports below. Thank you.

UPDATE Dec 30: Sorry for the lengthy delay and lack of updates. My work and personal schedule have been very hectic over the last few weeks with the holidays and everything. I apologize to those of you waiting for an update and hope to get one out in an acceptable amount of time. I have no expected date for this yet, but I have not abandoned this mod and I will continue to correct issues and release a better version in time. Please bare with me and feel free to continue posting suggestions! Thank you all very much for the support so far.

UPDATE Dec 10: Version 2.4 Coming Soon:
-Optional 'Region Map' Border, Region Numbers and Names as Provided by the Survivors Guide for Fallout 4 book.
-Optional 'Numbered Grid Lines' for added detail or simply for those who like to track locations by hand.
-Optional 'Paper Map' stylized version. Bringing the total styles to 3 (Textured, Greyscale and Stylized).
-All new Custom Installers with improved descriptions, file names, titles and folder structures for those who want to test multiple versions or who would prefer to extract the installers and install the textures manually.
-New 'All-In-One' installer for people who don't care about the 1-2GB decompressed file sizes (only ~100-200mb Download) and who want to have every single option available to easily switch between styles, resolutions and options without needing to re-download the other installer versions.
-A few minor edits to the textures and roads for increased clarity and better in-game representation of player location.

    Current Version 2.2 Changelog:
    -Improved clarity of heightmaps.
    -Improved grid lines over water.
    -Cleaned and smoothed shorelines.
-Added a grey-scale (HD Vanilla) version of all map variants.
-All versions now include Default, Dark and Light variants.
-You can now selectively install Borders, Grids, Roads, Resolution, Brightness and Style with the new FOMOD installer.

-Added slightly darker and outlined vanilla icons.
**More icon variations will follow based on desire and time.

    -Added 2k, 3k and 4k Resolution Options.
    *A Note About Increased Resolutions:
***The higher the resolution, the more 'zoomed in' the map will seem and you'll need to scroll further to get from one side to the other.
***The higher the resolution, the further apart the icons will appear. This can be seen as good or bad based on personal preference.

    In a Future Update:
-*Potentially Remove Map Glow (Especially in Power Armor).
-Add Additional Detail and Textures to Specific Map Areas.
    -More Icon Variants.
-Potentially Scale 2k+ Resolution maps properly in the Pipboy.

I would lightly decrease contrast if I were you. While the texture looks great standalone, the Pipboy display seems to make it muddier and cloudy, rather than crisp like in the separate picture of your work. Atleast until you figure out the scaling issue, at any rate.

if my memory doesn't deceive me the Map Markers are handled similarly to Skyrim.

I'd like to see grid numbers on the map. I'm a explorer/looter but sometimes I have to store loot or leave a power armour behind. Making a note on what grid number I left it in would be a great feature.

@The1Unum - Sounds like a good idea. I'll see what I can do in a future update.

I have a minor suggestion - in the 3k filename or description add Less Cluttered Icons. The fact that higher resolutions are required for less cluttered icons is buried in the mod description and easily missed. I know its my fault for not reading the entire paragraph carefully but others won't either and will have a wrong impression of your mod. I was about to download an inferior mod just for less cluttered icons.

      Or perhaps put -
      A Note About Increased Resolutions:
***The higher the resolution, the more 'zoomed in' the map will seem and you'll need to scroll further to get from one side to the other.
***The higher the resolution, the further apart the icons will appear. This can be seen as good or bad based on personal preference.

Before the mod description. Just a minor suggestion, and again I know its my fault for not reading carefully but when a game has this many defects to fix you tend to download every improvement you can as fast as you can haha. Thank you for the epic mod, I wish I could endorse it 100 times.

I love the mod, honestly, it's amazing.

But, sadly, it does not support Nuka World or Far Harbor. Please add support, as there are no good map mods for those places.

The visuals are great, but the functionality isn't working correctly for me... the map itself works fine, but it breaks my ability to zoom out fully and the map icons option breaks the player/PA/quest markers. I typically use Improved Map with Visible Roads in combination with Atom Bomb Pinups Pip-Boy Wallpapers (with the map mod overwriting the worldmap_d.dds file), so I tried the same combo with this mod instead - might be the reason this one doesn't work properly, I'm not really sure.

Excuse me, your mod is causing a bug on the PA / Player icons on the pip-boy after the beta update... When PA icon changes to a cave icon and player current location to PA icon while the custom destination to a large mouse cursor. Look into this please. ty

I uploaded images to the page.

Odd, I never noticed it - does it still occur with all map related mods disabled? I'll be sure to look into it as soon as I can. I've had a lot of personal, work related, changes in the last few weeks keeping me from this project, but I'll be sure to take a look. Thank you for the update though.

when disabling this mod the icons are fine.

I did try a different map mod for testing. no bug. everything looked fine. Reinstall this mod to make sure and the icons bugged. So definitely this. :/

I can confirm that the moveable map markers (like player arrow, power armor location and custom map marker) are messed up since the 1.3 update.

It seems that there is a workaround to this : uninstall the mod then reinstall it ensuring that "new map markers" is left unchecked during the FOMOD installation.

It is a matter of versions. The file Pipboy_MapPage.swf is different from game version 1.2.37 and 1.3.47.
So you have updated the game to 1.3.47 but the file with the mapmarkers (installed by this mod) has remained the one of the previous game version so the icons are misplaced.

The last uploads being from early december, this mod has not be updated to version 1.3.47.
The only solution is for Vastias to take the v1.3.47 Pipboy_MapPage.swf and make the changes he made to the previous version.

I can confirm that just uninstalling and reinstalling the mod, without checking the box on the final installation page about the default map markers will solve this problem! Player Icon fixed and custom map marker is no longer a cave symbol!

It looks this mod is abandoned, which is a shame, because I found this the best map mod so far. :(

Anyway, I'd like to also confirm, that the new, much better and much more visible icons indeed bug out the player's icon (it becomes a cavern icon).
Bug 2: Also, the quest target icons change to cavern as well, making them very hard to notice.
Bug 3: The Custom marker bugs out too, after you placed it once, you can't remove it anymore.

It would be awesome if the mod would be continued, the new, more visible icons are really good and I'd like to be able to use them.

      Tango

I'm looking for a mod that changes the color of the quest markers, independently of the pipboy light color.
    Is this even possible?

Hi Vastias, I just came accross the fact that your mod and my mod (Zoom-Out Extended for the World Map) are conflicting.
I see you have changed the color of the MapMarkers, which is fastidious I know. On my part, I modified a few numbers.
My mod adresses a big flaw in the ergonomy of the World Map by allowing to zoom-out more so I believe it is quite usefull and a solution to the incompatibility would be for you to incorporate the changes I made to Pipboy_MapPage.swf.

You should check the doc of my mod were I show the changes I made to Pipboy_MapPage.swf.
    http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9144/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D9144%26preview%3D&pUp=1

You should check the topic opened by Amazingredd about the "displacement bug":
...The only solution is for Vastias to take the v1.3.47 Pipboy_MapPage.swf and make the changes he made to the previous version.

This is excellent work. Well done. I hope this gets more exposure. The other map mods are very well done also, but this is just superb.

Considering it, will see how it goes with the new installers I'm working on.
