Any chance to add a variant that keeps reactivating itself automatically? - it should be possible to toggle active state manually - it should keep consuming energy cells in my inventory (provided I have them) when needed. - it should discharge energy cells gradually (i.e. not take a whole cell at activation every time, but use the one loaded until the charge fully drains) - should turn off for any resting/waiting/cutscenes, etc. automatically Thank you for considering!
And I got lucky with the "disappearing from the favorites" thing. I used extensively yesterday and it remained there bound to the fav hotkey. I'll test on a new character to see if that keeps happening.
A quest directing to the location or with ingame hints would be very nice.
*edit:
Dying and reloading with the Detection Boy ON is what makes it not come back to the favorite itens when the power goes off.
First i want say that thing is great. But its get removed from my hotkey when use it, not always but happens often. Is it possible create some kind activator which don't disappear like it is with "West Tek Tactical Optics "?(just suggestion)
Just thought I'd pass along a couple issues I've found. When I favorite the DB it will only work 3-4 times and then I'll have to add it to favorites again. Next, I'm noticing it doesn't always detect every NPC, i.e. there may be 5-6 standing around but it may only target 3-4. Anyway, other than that I'm really liking it. Hope you can find a fix for these issues. Peace.
Some NPCs like Preston Garvey are "immune" to having target markers placed on them. It's an issue with the base game that is probably easy to fix, but it would likely make the mod conflict with any other mod that edits the same NPCs.
As for the favoriting issue, this happens because of how the mod works. When you activate the Detection Boy, it's actually being removed from your inventory and a "new" one is automatically given to you when the effects end. For the most part the game is smart enough to automatically re-favorite the item, but sometimes it won't
It's possible but a couple of major things with the mod would need tweaked to accommodate it always being on. Maybe I'll add it as an optional feature in a future update :)
I was about to request this as a cheat mode version. The kind of thing you have to deliberately opt into, but is available for those who want it. Let's be honest, not everyone wants to play by the rules, sometimes you just want to smashy-smashy. ^_^
Always on would also effectively bring back some of the functionality from FO3/NV with npc markers showing up on the hud... now if range was tied to Perception that would nearly replicate it, haha. Kidding about the last part... set ranges are fine.
My additional requests either for an always on version or the existing timed version:
1. Toggleable on/off rather than having to wait for the timer to run out (or just on/off toggle in untimed version)
And likely far beyond the scope of this mod but wishlist items in case you're ever feeling up to it:
2. In-game selection/changing of detection range. 3. MCM integration for settings like time/range/toggle hotkey etc. (or at least a holotape) 4. ESL version

Looking forward to trying this on my next modded play through.

Anyway, great idea with this mod!
