Version 2.0 released. I decided to revisit this mod after all these years. Saw people were bothered by the mooing so I went ahead with silenced all the Brahmin sound files. Thank you all for your kind words.
I'm a big fan of this mod and it has been working perfectly for years!!! However, it now makes my game crash with the below Crash Log Scanner finding when brahmin are around. I'm using v2.0.
I've tried ALL the suggested fixes for this error- only thing that works is disabling this mod. Of course this could be a problem relating to my specific setup or mod list, but I think my finding is specific enough to this mod that it was worth mentioning here. Again, I do really like this mod.
I suspect it may in part be caused when using this mod with Sim Setllements 2, since I've only seen this problem recently. This is pure speculation, though.

Your log indicates an issue with your game installation. Verify files with Steam or reinstall Fallout 4.
This mod does not use a script to manipulate Fallout 4 files that could cause any crashes. It's just a set of audio files using the game's own ability to replace audio. The only conclusion I could draw from any crashes would be if you had another mod which manipulated Brahmin creature files that had their own audio replacement for the Brahmin creature.
I'm sorry Pluupy but I narrowed the crashing down to this mod also, I've had random crashes in settlements for the 2000 or so hours I have in the game, over that time I've had all sorts of mod lists, from barebones ones (literally just the unofficial patch and a few qol mods like this at one point) to really expansive ones, this mod had been a constant throughout all of this.
I recently found out about Buffout 4 and the crash logger and went to one of my settlements that was basically unplayable because it kept random crashing a lot more than other ones, so I checked the log to find it was an audio related crash, I followed the FAQ on Buffout 4's page, re-installed audio drivers, installed an old directx redist etc, etc but none of that stopped the crash. So moving on - this particular settlement has at least 4 brahmin in it and its at this point I happened to realise that through the hundreds of hours I've played this game, the random crashing always seemed to happen when a Brahmin was in the vicinity, so anyway... there I kept removing audio related mods until the crash went away, this mod was the very last one I had when the game continued to crash, I finally removed this mod and after that the settlement no longer caused the game to crash, I wondered around it for 20 minutes thinking it was a fluke but nope, no crashing whatsoever, so after being surprised and thinking I'd finally found the culprit I installed this mod again and literally less than 2 minutes after loading the save, the game crashed and continued to do it every reload within a few minutes.
I never thought that a simple sound file could cause this game to crash, but apparently they can and I've seen it mentioned elsewhere during my research on this, based on what I've seen this crash is usually attributed to incorrectly compressed sound files, or sound files that are simply corrupted, I'm not much of a modder so don't really know what to look for but is there any chance you can take a close look at the files to see if there is some kind of problem with them?
Since I discontinued using this mod, I have racked up around another 50 hours and I've not crashed in settlements or around Brahmin since, I have no other mods that edit Brahmin in any other way not even a texture so I'm not sure what else to say? I really appreciate your mod but it does seem like there's something wrong with it from what I've expreienced, I would love to use it again in the future if you can get to the bottom of it.
Edit: To make sure I'm not spewing rubbish I decided to test properly - I purged my mods with Vortex, installed nothing but this mod and then loaded a vanilla save in Sanctuary, I spawned 15 Brahmin with the console and the game crashes every time, either instantly or within a few seconds, if I do the same again without this mod installed the game does not crash, even with 100 Brahmin wondering about.
Same problem here! It wasn't easy for me to determine that it was this mod as it didn't seem likely to be the cause of the constant crashing I was experiencing, I thought my save was just completely borked for a while. I'm so glad I noticed this comment string! I had read somewhere else just prior that unsupported wav files can crash the game engine resulting in "Unhandled exception "EXCEPTION_INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO"". I'm assuming the quiet wavs in this mod are somehow incorrectly formatted.
[solved] I also had crash to desktop with these files. I replaced them with silent WAV files with a length of 1 second and it didn't crash. I suppose there must be at least one sample in the file (>22µs) for it to not cause a crash.
If you download any mod that lets you see placed animation markers in build mode, you will see the brahmin constantly trying to use the "smoking" markers and i think this is the cause of that weird epileptic fit they have when they lay down and moo a lot while shaking.
Imagine this... inside vault 88, with the mod "Reverb and ambiene overhaul", two trade caravan posts, and three brahmin mooing with reverb constantly... i'ts torture.
I absolutely hated the Brahmin sounds. Since they add happiness (1 pnt per) I usually had 3 per settlement and they drove me nuts... this fixed that issue. Now.. anyone know a mod that gets rid of the sound settlers make when gardening?? I mistakenly put my main crafting facility right next to my garden area.. imma have to move all them plants I know it lol.
