Version 4.0 has pushed back fog away from the player, like the vanilla game does. Only difference now is that the far fog setting has been increased to extremely high values, which makes the fog appear very gradually. I personally like this a lot better, although it is likely to require future tweaking to get looking perfect. The image is no longer washed out, which allowed me to set contrast to 1 instead of the previous 1.07. This helps reduce noticeable eye adaption, something I have always hated.
The downside to this change is that it puts a practical limit on how think fog can be. Luckily, the mod reduces fog intensity anyway to make the game easier to see. I think it's a big improvement. Technically the fog pop in is back again, but now it's so subtle that I cannot spot the exact cut off, even when using free cam and zooming in and out on a static object.
If you try this new test version please let me know what you think.
I have been using this with Fallout London (as well as the compatibility patch) and the only issue I have seen thus far is one instance where rain left puddles that were a pretty ghastly pink. Disabling Clarity removes the pink coloration but otherwise it remains. In dozens of hours it's the only bug I've seen and as it is an exterior location I am supposing it is Clarity and not the compatibility patch that I would post this under.
It could, entirely, be relating to something at that area in FOLON. I have zero clue if this can really help you or if it's just a hiccup with the game but I can post more details if so desired. I took some screens of the locale but I understand it's not really your place to worry over fixing it as it isn't in the FO4 world space. Otherwise this mod has been incredibly wonderful but for that minuscule hiccup. Actually, I suppose this is more of a 'would you like me to post these images, I don't want to place them in the wrong place if they can help somehow' post...
DO NOT use this mod, I repeat, DO NOT use. It broke my game's lights, they became super bright, lightbulbs, even the sun, it seems it breaks saves so stay clear, the last update was 4 years ago. Saying this for both pre NG and NG.
Clarity don't break anything, but obviously it has never been good practice to remove any mod in the middle of a playthrough ! The only thing is, that YOU don't know how to remove a mod, all mods can break your game if not removed properly...
Mods don't get broken just because it hasn't been updated for a long time, it only means that it's finished... I've been using Clarity for many years on and off, and never had a single issue :)
install or uninstall Clarity during the middle of your playthrough is TOTALLY FINE, I repeat it is TOTALLY FINE, as it touches only some vanilla records, it doesn't add any new stuff, those mods that people been talking about to be "unsafe to uninstall" are generally heavy scripted mods such as SIMS 2 or NAC X (but NAC X can still be "somehow safely uninstalled" in the middle of your playthrough as long as you do it right, it might still break some stuff but you probably won't even notice).
back to your problem, the reason why you encountered whatever super bright lights or so were defiantly because you have installed other mods that edited interior cells, some popular mods such as ELFX or Ultra Interior Lighting do such edits, (which is why you shouldn't be using them at the same time, but there is a patch to merge them)
If you want to use Clarity, then use only this, without other mods that edit interior cells, unless you know how to merge them by using XEdit, but since Clarity only removes the fog from interior cells which many mods already do the same, you may want to erase the edits that Clarity did and keep only the imagine space change.
BTW, Clarity edited vanilla weather records, so it conflicts with some weather mods too, I suggest people to check each mod they installed via whatever CK or XEdit every time they install mods like Clarity that overhauls a lot of vanilla stuff.
We need to find out what we need to delete to bring back fog in fo4 edit. I also like this mod but fog is a must for the atmosphere. Without fog, the distant lod is very ugly
Unfortunately it doesn't interact well with the "dark nights" mod... I had to remove it becauseeven when setting the nights to the darkest, your mod makes it so that it is light at night(((
folon 1.02 gets broken by this mod game goes to 0 fps and freezes pc on loading screens you can cleary see it on startup it takes like 15secs instead of instantly ( iwth folon patch )
NAC and NAC X have alot of fog related weathers along with other things that Clarity might affect, depending on preferences, some may like that or not. I think Clarity is intended to be a bit more realistic combined with such weather mods.
Nac X is standalone and requires the FOG settings it is shipping with. If you load Clarity before NAC X your not doing anything wrong. Also any weather changes clarity does will be overriden by NAC X obviously. As a matter of fact, weather mods will clash with weather mods.
It is not recommended to use FPSL due to its various issues.
From The Midnight Ride Modding Guide, which I believe shows the absolute best method of setting up a rock-solid, stable, vanilla+ foundation and the proper practices for modded playthroughs:
Contains many edits that are not related to the mod's goal at all (such as water output from a pump and generator cost), does not really improve performance in any relevant amount as tested here and as a result of using it, light sources will look miserable.
(Though the author made the unfortunate mistake of using Discord and to host an image, no less)
How would I go about making this darker? Every aspect of this mod is great but my interiors are way too bright for my liking. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
