About this mod

16:9 Hudmenu preset with all UI elements outside of a 21x9 display area.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
This Hudmenu preset for 16:9 screens relegates (almost) all main UI elements outside of a
display area for a fake 21x9 display setup. Inspired by older PC RPGs.
To get the black borders, you can use an ENB preset that includes letterboxing, like Film Workshop:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24660/
or PRC:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6796?tab=images

In Film Workshop, for example, look at the right configuration bar under "ENBEFFECTPOSTPASS.FX". There you will find the option "Enable Letterbox/Pillarbox".
Add the checkkmark and change the "Aspect Ratio" value to 2.33... (The UI will only show two decimals but you can actually set it much more accurate. Add a sizeable amount (10-20) of 3s. Too many will crash the game however).

This is the Hudmenu preset I am using and as such it has already been playtested and adjusted.
If there are still clipping or other issues please report them to me.

I recommend an FOV of 114 with this setup, best configured with the Custom Camera F4se plugin:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/29905

Issues:
-Dialogue options are still being displayed outside of the black boxes.
- The game will still render the area behind the black bars. I don't know of a method that would actually improve performance.
- With certain ENB / DOF configurations, the borders can become blurred and parts of the UI can slightly cut into the play area.

Installation:

- Download Def_UI with HudMenu here:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10654/
- Download and configure an ENB preset as described above
- Extract the files and drop them (preferably with a Mod Manager like Mod Organizer 2) into your Fallout installation's "data" folder so that "interface" is within "data"
