    Update 17/12/2022
I have a couple of big mods I'm trying to finish in 2023 and I will post screenshots and more information about those mods when they are closer to release, join my Discord server for more information and to be notified when I release new mods.
Simply Better Weather v10.2 & v11.2 have been released for preview.

Most of my mods received a minor update 16/12/2022, the main reason for this update to was to allow you to install multiple versions / options of the mods at the same time so that you can switch between the versions whenever you like. Some files had to be renamed in order to accomplish this but this will not effect your save games. All of my mods can be installed/uninstalled or swapped out at any time without harming your save games. All files are ESL flagged .esp's (except Puddle Remover Plus), these files can edited and sorted by load order but do not use an ESP plugin slot. I am no longer creating ESP or Loose files versions of my mods because there is no performance or compatibility improvements to be gained by using them.
FYI: Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition can have up to 253 ESP (Full) and 4096 ESL (Light) plugins installed at the same time.

If you want to say "Thanks" for this mod press the "Endorse" button at the top of the page, it's appreciated.

    Later,
    Glass

    Hello and Welcome,
If you need help, but your not a forum person (I understand that), you can send me a PM, I'll reply as soon as I can.
If you treat me with respect, I will treat you with respect, and I'll try to help you.
If you disrespect me or my work, I'll ban you.
    * Mod Authors: If you have mod related questions/issues to discuss, contact me by PM or on Discord.

    Tips & Common Sense:
    • Before you install any mod or make any changes to your game, you should back up your save games and/or relevant files.
I recommend zipping up your My Games\Fallout4 folder and labeling and dating that zip file as part of your backups. Then thoroughly test the mod / changes before you add any other mods or advance the game.
      C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4
This creates a backup of your "Saves" folder, your Fallout4.ini, Fallout4Pref.ini and your Fallout4Custom.ini if you have one.
    • Use FO4Edit to easily view the changes made by a mods ESP/ESL/ESM, check for compatibility, resolve conflicts, est.
    • If this mod does not fit your play-style or if you simply don't like it, don't use it, no one is asking you to.

FOG REMOVER II FAQ & ADDITIONAL INFO

    Info Updated 16/12/2022
There is now only 2 versions of Fog Remover II, use the (Main) version if you have Automatron, Far Harbor and Nuka World. If you do not own all of the DLC or you want to use a version without the Interior Fog Remover use the (BA2) version. All previous options have been included in these installers including the standalone versions of the Interior Fog Remover.
"All" files are now ESL flagged .esp's. There is no need to use a ESP or Loose Files version of this mod. There is no performance or compatibility difference between ESL and ESP flagged files.
FYI: Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition can have up to 253 ESP (Full) and 4096 ESL (Light) flagged files installed at the same time.

For an even more significant boost in FPS use Fog Remover II with my Simply Better Weather mod.

    Fog Remover II FAQ:
    Spoiler:
    Show

Q: Is this really a new mod or just an update?
    A: New Mod.
    * The fundamental component in both the original Fog Remover and Fog Remover II is the mesh used to override the games default files. Fog Remover II uses a new mesh that is that is only 226 bytes, 53.35 x's smaller than the one used in the original Fog Remover.
    * In the (Main) versions of Fog Remover II the workload is moved from the "Meshes" folder (SSD/HDD) to the data in the ESL/ESP (CPU).
    * New Interior Fog Remover option / standalone mod.

    Q: Should I upgrade / switch mods?
    A: Recommended.
    * Fog Remover II has better overall performance than the original version.
    * Fog Remover II is the only version with fully integrated Interior Fog Removers.
    * Fog Remover II is now the "Official / Current Build" of the mod as of 4/9/2018.

Q: Is Fog Remover II faster than the original Fog Remover?
    A: Yes.
However the difference is small and It affects the amount of system resources used more than FPS.

Q: Does Fog Remover II v1.0 remove more or less than Fog Remover v7.0 (Final)?
    A: No.
The base versions are identical except for the build method and mesh files used.
    * Not including the new Interior Fog Remover.

Q: Will I see a gain in FPS between Fog Remover II and the original Fog Remover?
    A: Maybe.
There is a limit to the amount of FPS to be gained by removing mist, steam and dust and the original Fog Remover is good at what it does.

Q: What's the difference between Fog Remover II versions / builds?
A: All versions and all builds override the exact same files. In other words, they all do exactly the same thing, they just do it in different ways. I made the different build options so you can choose the version / build that works best for you.
    * The (Main) versions are built using the ESL/ESP flagged.esp method for improved performance and they include the new "Interior Fog Remover".
The (Main) versions move the workload from the "Meshes" folder (SDD/HDD) to the data in the ESL/ESP (CPU). There are 2 versions available, the ESL version which does not use a plugin slot and a standard ESP version.
    * The "BA2" version / build is built using the loose files packed in .Ba2 archives method. This version does not contain the Interior Fog Remover.
    * The "Loose Files" version / build is built using individual meshes. This version does not contain the Interior Fog Remover.

Q: Will you make more versions with the Interior Fog Remover integrated into them? Will you make me a custom version?.
    A: No.
    * I won't make more versions with IFR integrated into them because there are too many options to maintain. It is very easy to merge the base mod and IFR, in the "How to Guides" I have explained in detail (with pictures), how to do this with all my mods.
(ESL versions are now available, these files do not use a plugin slot.)

    * The new ESL & ESP builds are fully customizable using just FO4Edit.

    * Fog Remover II replaces my Fog Remover - Performance Enhancer and SBW Fog Remover mods.

Fog Remover II - Interior Fog Remover Info:
    Spoiler:
    Show

The Interior Fog Remover removes the "fog" from every interior cell in the game.
It does this using a combination of 3 methods:
    1. By editing Lighting Templates
    2. Cell "Lighting" edits where necessary. (Only 21 of the games 300+ interior cells had to be edited, all in the Commonwealth.)
    3. A script to reduce the amount of cells edits needed. This script only runs a command line at start up.
The changes made by the script used are not baked into your save game, when you uninstall this mod, fog will return to all cells.

    * A holotape uninstaller is craftable at a chemlab or you can use the console command stopquest FRII_InteriorFogRemovalQuest to stop the script and uninstall the mod at any time. (Neither of these steps are required to uninstall the mod, the script used only runs a command line at start up and is removed with the mod when you uninstall, but they have been included for your peace of mind.)
    * This mod may conflict with some location mods, finding and resolving conflicts is very easy to do, see the "How to Guides" for details.

Interior Fog Remover - List of Cells Edited / Edits Made:
    Spoiler:
    Show

When viewed with FO4Edit the following 21 cells have the following edits:
Data - Flag / "Use Sky Lighting" and "Distant LOD Only" have been deselected, these are the only two cell edits made by this mod. These are cell "Lighting" edits when viewed in the CK.
See the "How to Guides" for a step by step guide explaining how to find and resolve cell conflicts with the Interior Fog Remover.

How many FPS will I gain using Fog Remover II?
    Spoiler:
    Show

It depends on a few factors: your pc, your game settings and where you're at in the game.
    * Fog Remover II can only improve your performance in places where there is mist, steam, smoke, est.
    * To get a good idea of the visual improvements and "maximum" performance boost Fog Remover II will give you, install the "Recommended" option and then go to Goodneighbor and walk around the alleys and the interior locations; Far Harbor dock is also is a good testing ground.
** Players with high end machines may see little if any gain in FPS, but can still enjoy the visual improvements made by this mod.

What's the difference between fog & mist?
    Spoiler:
    Show

    In the default game:
Exterior fog is created & controlled by the weather files using a combination of lighting and GodRays.
Interior fog is created & controlled by the cells "Lighting" data and/or by the games "Lighting Templates".
Removing interior fog does not improve the games performance, but it does improve it's appearance.
Removing interior fog does not effect the cells Previs/Precombine data.

Mist, Steam, Dust, Smoke and Airborne Leaves & Debris are referred to in the CK as "Moveable Statics", these are animated mesh files (.nif's).
These "Moveable Statics" reduce both interior and exterior performance.
"Moveable Statics" are not included in Previs/Precombine data so they can safely be disabled or replaced.

Does this mod remove weapons smoke, steam from cooking pots or smoke from campfires?
    Spoiler:
    Show

No. The "Recommended" and basic combo options do not remove what I call 'decorative' steam and smoke. (This type of steam and smoke can be removed by choosing custom options.)
    * This mod does not remove any weapons FX.

Is this mod compatible with weather mods?
    Spoiler:
    Show

Yes. This mod does not edit any weather files.

Does this mod effect Previs or Precombines?
    Spoiler:
    Show

No. "Moveable Statics" are not included in previs data or precombined meshes.
Fog Remover II itself does not edit any cell or world data and no files are disabled or deleted.
The cell edits made by the Interior Fog Remover only change lighting data, they do not break the cells previs/precombine data.

For more information about Previs and Precombines see: Fallout 4 Optimization and Performance Systems Explained

Load Order Tip / Easy Conflict Resolution:
    Spoiler:
    Show

Place this mod toward the top of your "Load Order" (plugins.txt), above / higher than you're location, settlement and over-haul mods.
Allow any mod that changes cell data to win any conflicts with Fog Remover II or the Interior Fog Remover.
FYI: When sorting your "Load Order", the mod on bottom / loaded last wins all conflicts.
The worst thing that could happen is some interior fog returns.
    * Fully resolving conflicts with Fog Remover II is very easy to do, see the "How to Guides" for details.

Known Issues, Conflicts and Resolving Conflicts: Updated 17/2/2022
    Spoiler:
    Show

    The current version is 2.1

    * Known something (not really an issue), the Interior Fog Remover makes the room when you first enter Concord Museum brighter, once your past that point the museum returns to normal, the interior of the Cambridge Police Station may also appear brighter, this is due to removing the lighting that was causing the fog.

    * Vortex Support forum.
Known something (not really an issue), Vortex is adding is it's own option to my installer, "None". I don't have a "None" option in my installer, and the word "none" does not exist in the ModuleConfig.xml.
    See here for Vortex Q&A's
Credit to Reytag for reporting this issue.

    * There is a minor conflict between some of my options and the UFOP mod.
This is a cell "display name" conflict only and has no effect on the functionality of either mod. You can resolve this conflict or ignore it.
UFOP is adding a "-" to a cell name. This "-" does not exist in the Fallout4 or any DLC esm.
Credit to iRulz for reporting this issue.

To make Fog Remover II as compatible as possible with other mods "without" resolving conflicts:
Place this mod toward the top of your "Load Order" (plugins.txt), above / higher than you're location, settlement and over-haul mods.
Allow any mod that changes cell data to win any conflicts with Fog Remover II or the Interior Fog Remover.
When sorting your "Load Order", the mod on bottom / loaded last wins all conflicts.
The worst thing that could happen is some interior fog returns.
    * Fully resolving conflicts with Fog Remover II is very easy to do, see the "How to Guides" for details.

No, not once you understand what a mesh needs to be valid. If your trying to learn about meshes or modding in general, Kinggath has created a Youtube series called Bethesda Mod School that covers the basics of just about everything, I'd recommend that you start there.

In the "Misc" downloads section of this page you will see "Glass's Blank Mesh". This is the mesh file I use in Fog Remover II and my other mods (when I need to remove an object), it's a Modders Resource that you can use to create your own work.

Would this mod be redundant if I were to use Radiant clouds and fogs?

Edit: I just saw your performance mods altering fog and yours conflicting. However, according to radiant clouds and fog it only affects distant fog in the mountains. Would that be considered a conflict with your mod?

rpg38 If that mod is only affecting the low level clouds then no our mods will not conflict (unless you choose the option that removes those clouds) I would suggest using the "Recommended" option in the Fog Remover installer. In any case it's not going to harm your game to try the mods together. I would load Fog Remover above the Radiant Clouds mod at first and see how that works for you. If you decide not to use Fog Remover you can 100% safely remove it at any time, there is nothing about this mod that affects your save game.
If you don't mind come back and tell us how that works out for you.

haven't had a chance to but will check it out tonight. After carefully reading over your description and noticing "doesn't remove exterior fog" I am pretty confident in this mod and Radiant clouds and fogs working well together.

      Hey Storm,
Cruz was the original Mod Author of the original Fog Remover, I took over the mod for him and it's been my mod since v2.0. Now in Fog Remover II, I'm working with SMB, BigandFlabby and Cancerous, so it's all good.

Tell Teloria I say "Hi" and that here soon I'll be dropping the absolute best SBW versions I have ever made, I kid you not. Here's a sneak peak: Screenshot

Thank You WerewolfOfTheWater, for reporting that to me so quickly.
Big Kudo's to you for reporting and PMing with the details. You saved me and probably quite a few people some problems.

Since only 7 people had downloaded the mod I did not change version numbers again, I just fixed the mistake and re-uploaded.

EDIT: I think I did the same thing in reverse last night with my other mod, I broke the file name in the installer that time....this hasn't been my week.
*My apologies to the people who grabbed that broken installer.

      Your Welcome,
Cambridge is my main testing ground simply because of the sheer amount of fog and dust. Anyway your going to see big fps gains in some places like Goodneighbor and Combat Zone and smaller in others, but a few things are always the same...you always get a fps boost, never a loss, and the game always looks better!
