So basically with this should I get a new computer I can back up everything with all my mods and then just install it on the new computer and play my heavily modded save like nothing happened? How does this have so few downloads?
Version 1.7b is out It now has the ability to exclude official DLCs from backups.
Requirements:
config.bat's settings are correctly edited the destination folder has enough free space available no other demanding software is currently running
Usage:
1) edit config.bat - 4 numbered settings 2) run backup_fallout4_mods_and_savegames.bat OR backup_fallout4_mods_noDLCs_and_savegames.bat OR backup_fallout4_savegames.bat
A friend asked me to take a look at your script and see if anything could be added/fixed, so I did and here's what I found:
I combined the Meshes & Textures commands, and added the "Materials" directory - all three zip into the Textures archive.
I added an "Interface" section, that zips the \Interface and \Strings directories.
I moved the esp's over to the ESM zipfile, and added \Backup \Script \Programs \Vis \Misc \ShaderSFX \LODSettings to the "misc" zipfile.
He also noticed that it zips the default fallout4.esm - while that's likely not a problem, it does waste some time zipping the extra data.
If you want me to post the updated script somewhere, I can - but it would likely be quicker for you to just make any changes to your source version. :-)
*** Edit - I just looked around and there's a -x switch for 7z to exclude files. I'll test it on my copy of the zip, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Is it possible to comment the mod backup part out and use the script to backup the savegames everytime I start Fallout 4? Like with NMM and a Custom Launch Command which points to your backup script?
so if i use nexus mod manage how will it work? im formatting my pc, and i have tons of mods installed, will it it just transfer them into nexus again? or does nexus ,magically know i got the mods?

Thanks for the script, it works very fine.

So to be clear this tool backs up the actual mod files, not Nexus configuration or settings (version etc).
