LC-1 Laser Carbine v1.0c
by Matrix Aran

CHANGELOG
1.0c Reimplemented the dynamic naming for certain variants of the rifle.

INSTALLATION

Either use your choice of automated mod manager, or copy the contents of the zipped file to your Fallout 4 Data folder. To Uninstall, simply delete AranLaserCarbine.esp; AranLaserCarbine - Main.ba2; AranLaserCarbine - Textures.ba2 from your Fallout 4 Data folder.

LOCATION

You'll find the carbine issued to synth units around about the time you hit level 20, though if you're eager to get your hands on it sooner, there are rumors of a Courser being spotted carrying one of the carbines, headed out toward the Glowing Sea to secure a relay tower.

MOD INFORMATION

The LC-1 Laser Carbine is designed to offer a weapon that looks a little less silly in the hands of Synths and players, while still using all the same animation sets. It was built from the ground up to mimic the AER-9 Laser Rifle in the vanilla game while having a slimmer, more practical look to it. It never went into full production though, as Maid Dynamics lost the contract due to insisting on a proprietary fusion pack design. Sure they can be charged simply from any existing fusion cell, but the Army scoffed at the idea of having to replace all their ammo infrastructure.

I specifically set out to design one rifle, so the number of mods for it are limited, and all of them have their purpose. While you won't find alot of options to trick out the rifle, every one of them will change the way the weapon plays. You'll find red and blue laser capacitors which have slightly different damage models, and come in semi auto and full auto variants. The stock is collapsible, and with it out of the way you'll see a significant increase to your movement speed while aiming down sights, though the weapon will be a little less controlable. The heatsink can be extended which effectively gets you more shots per power cell, though the heavier longer weapon is a bit harder to hold steady. Finally the emitter can be swapped over to a shotgun blast emitter which will cut the weapon's range drastically, along with your heatsink capacity, however you'll find it packs one hell of a punch.

As for balance, with the number of different ways to play the game, and mods changing combat, it's hard to make it suit everyone, and then there's the perk system. I've done my best to set it on par for a weapon you'd expect to find around level 20, but your mileage may vary. Do let me know if you find it particularly weak/overpowered and I'll do my best to tweak it into line where I can.

KNOWN ISSUES

Currently some users have reported crashes when acessing the weapon workbench with the carbine in their inventroy. However I'm unable to reproduce this crash on my system, and neither can my tester. More information is needed to track down the cause. Please try the mod on a clean save, preferably on a new game, and with as few mods loaded as possible. If you get a crash, please report it on the Nexus, along with your mod load order and as much detail as you can provide. Thanks.
