From the comments I see there are at least two ways to fix the glitch. I always just closed the game and restarted it.
Good bit of teaching with your images on the description page also. I liked that, maybe you should do tutorial pages to keep us entertained.

Yes there's a few ways, in my opinion the first line of defense should be: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21907/
That fix is for people who downloaded Bethesda's official high res texture DLC and then got the brown face glitch. However I read a couple posts from people who did not have the high res DLC and still had the issue fixed with this mod. Unfortunately I am not one of the people whose game was fixed by it :(

As BrutOpticalGaming mentioned you can just reload your save but that doesn't always work reliably for me. Sometimes I hit F9: brown face. Hit it again: brown face. Repeat till fed up!

At that point if the save reloading isn't working I would just do what you said and restart the game. 15 seconds to load to title screen, 30 seconds to load into the commonwealth?! NEVER.

Then I learned about the looks menu fix mentioned by Aldebaran90, and I decided to just automate a similar approach. Now when I see the brown face glitch I don't get discouraged I get excited to squash the bug with my macro! :)

Since people return here all the time, another reminder is you need to have matching texture sizes if your using multiple mods

So if your body is using 4k/2k mods, you should be using 4k/2k mods for the faces as well.

If anything its easier just to avoid 4k/2k mods entirely, and also to disable the 2k Texture DLC from Bethesda.

NOTE: If this doesn't work then you go into "\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\textures\Actors\Character\BaseHumanFemale" and delete all the textures and re-install your body and face texture mods. You need to delete them manually. The dark face bug can happen when you have downloaded different kinds of body/face textures.

Of course if you are using a male character it's BaseHumanMale you do it on.

This has to be the most difficult workaround way I have ever seen, I rather look for another one or simply stop playing that crap
