is there a way to use these texture for guns that spawn on certain leveled list, but use vanilla textures for other leveled lists? I'd want to keep BOS weapons that they spawn with as vanilla textures, but the rest could be rusty. that would be great.
I may try myself. I say it should be as simple as duplicating the mini gun so it has a different form ID and adding the clean duplicate the BOS and Gunners level lists, then downloading your mod. I will also add the rusty to Gunners too with different Chance of None values.
Although, I wonder if I add both versions to gunners, if the would spawn with things like clean barrel and rusty receiver? that would be problematic.
That's a really great idea. Unfortunetly, I'm not very good at modding. Textures is basically all I know, so I fear that I won't be able to help you with that.
Not Necessarily, I mean, look at the state of the pipe guns in the game. as long as the inside of the barrel and firing mechanisms are kept somewhat greased. A jam implementation would be awesome, but I think many mod authors have tried. Closest I know of is Horizon which has a weapon degradation system.
I dig it, but I am hoping that your full Rust project turns out to be all standalone paints that are default. That way, say, you find a gun on a random raider? Rusty. Buy one at a shop? Maybe rusty, maybe not. On a boss? Probably not rusty. Things like that, to help keep immersion without limiting.
