Remember this mod only work for the kick out quest that occur when you betray the faction. Not when you decide to attack the faction with the character in party.
Now Bug report section will be disable since I won't look at this mod anymore (until I come back to Fallout 4). Use at your own risk.
I have this installed but like do I need to make a holotape to keep him or does it just work when it's installed? For some reason I have a "Keep porter gage as a companion" even though I just dl'd the one for X6 as I tend to do the Raider playstyle anyways
About a year ago, I posted a comment saying that I downloaded the Keep Porter Gage Only file, and it did exactly what I wanted it to. Porter Gage stayed by my side as we slaughtered all the raiders in Nuka World. He also remained Essential through all of it.
Since then, I have done a little bit of testing with some other mods that may or may not affect Porter Gage. Keep in mind that the Keep Porter Gage Only mod is loaded AFTER all of the following mods. -"Gage Thoughts Fix" by Rydiah works just fine. Porter Gage still stayed Essential and on my side as we destroyed Nuka World. -"Femshepping's Re-EnGAGEd" by femshepping works only somewhat. Porter Gage wears the recoloured armor and clothing provided in that mod, however his hairstyle and facial features are reverted to what they were originally. -"Playable Gage's Eyepatch" by Watcherzero works just fine. -"Better Companions - No Conflicts" by rbddc12 works just fine. -"Minutemen Takeover - Nuka World" by hxhunter15 works only somewhat. When you have the Minutemen attack Nuka World, Porter Gage remains by your side, however his Essential flag is removed. Even while he is still following you, he can be killed by the other raiders in Nuka World. Re-applying the Essential flag via console commands does nothing.
Again, I used the Keep Porter Gage only file, and loaded it AFTER all of the mods listed above. I also have not completed any Nuka World quests other than the intro quest. This mod has worked totally fine for me, and I hope that the information I provided here can be of some assistance to others who may need it.
Open the console can click Gage then type -removefromallfactions -TAI(optional) -stopcombat After that simply type the following commands: addtofaction xx056ac4 1 addtofaction xx04b4d2 1 addtofaction a1b85 1 xx= load order (06) was my load order if you turned his AI off don't forget to turn it back on. He will be loyal to you after you kill the bosses however you cannot kill any of the 3 gangs in front of him after or he will go hostile.
I used this in March 2024 and it worked like perfectly. Thank you very much Plasmaphoenix001 for posting this.
I had already killed all the gangs but not in view of Gage. When I approached him he was hostile so I used the console command TCAI to turn off combat so I could get close to him to be able to click on him to select him while in the console. Once I did that I used the sequence of commands suggested above:
(Note, I also typed TCAI after the sequence (which isn't in these instructions) because I had turned off all combat AI for all NPCs to approach Gage. So I did this to make sure I turned it on again for all NPCs. I'm not entirely sure I needed to do that but it worked. However, you should probably try the exact sequence the OP listed first).
To be additionally clear, when it says in the instructions: addtofaction xx056ac4 1 addtofaction xx04b4d2 1
I substituted the 06 for the xx and it worked for me. So these commands were: addtofaction 06056ac4 1 addtofaction 0604b4d2 1
This was a lifesaver for those of us who like Gage but want to get rid of the gangs. It should have always been an option in the game to start with. Thank God for modders.
