The modder hasn't even checked in for 3 years so I don't know why I"m bothering, but I've found that barriers in my setup which directly touch a machine eventually become detached and move about a foot out of alignment. And this keeps happening every 2 or 3 gamedays, so it's really annoying.
Stuff does slip out through the gaps, by the way, so it's not a visual glitch--they actually do move, entirely on their own.
Now I see why others don't bother with this mod and just use screens, boards, and other ugly barriers.
I had the same problem, but there is an easy workaround using some console commands. First place the Y barrier, open the console, click on the Y barrier and enter these commands: "getpos x", "getpos y", "getpos z" and "getangle z". Now you place the Y barrier somewhere, where it is out of the way (don't store it). Now place the splitter so that it snaps to the conveyor belt. Finally, you open the console, ensure that the Y barrier is still selected and enter "setpos x <value>", "setpos y <value>", "setpos z <value" and "setangle z <value>" with the values you got from the first step. I tested it and for me it worked fine.
Place overlapping smaller conveyors underneath for this snapping, they will not be visible but still still convey power if you do it right. You might have trouble selecting them after having placed them but it's doable. Think of it as a grid of small conveyor pieces you set up before placing any of the heavier pieces that are part of the actual production line. You could use WS+ layers for this to make it easier to hide/show/select.
Sadly, this mod isn't useful to me, as there are no barriers with the barrier only on one side, making it incompatable with the merging belts found in some other mods
Not sure if I commented on this mod in the past or not, but I must say everyone should be using these belt barriers (if they have any dealings with workshop). This thing spares me all those hours of glitching walls into the conveyor because that damn arm on the splitter sends everything flying.
That said, you should really add a disclaimer as it is not possible to add the barriers to a splitter and the arm to it too. Place Anywhere, as an example fixes it, and there's not much of a reason to not use it anyways. That's my only complaint. This is still the best sanity saver for builders.
??? Odd, I was able to add the barrier and arm to a splitter. Bad news is, that was a playthrough where the saves are corrupted, so I don't *think* I can replay it to confirm.
What's stopping you from actually adding both? An outright inability, like it won't attach? Issues when attaching both that screw up everything?
Nothing is stopping me but the game itself. It's just the way it is and no, you must have place anywhere to add the splitter arm and the barrier. There's no way to do so in pure vanilla (tried many methods, glitching included, no dice with only this mod active).
If you truly found a way then that's news to me. Barriers was the whole reason I even started using place anywhere in the first place. To get walls inside the conveyor, but with barriers it's something I don't abuse as much now, other than the splitter.
If we add to this, I'd recommend adding some "view window" options, so that we can view what's going down the belt. I currently just add a small platform next to the conveyor line, but it would be awesome to have some windows on some barriers.
Absolutely -love- these. Only wish there was a single side panel / end of conveyor panel, that I could use with my Intersections. Still! This took care of most of the messes, and let me get away with things like having machines dump onto one line (dropping the items down into it), instead of hooking everything up 'just so' for output to the workshop inventory. So nice. As has been mentioned below, PlaceAnywhere is pretty much required if you don't want to lose your sanity entirely getting things in place.
cant use with divider arms on y junction...they clip together and only the barrier or arm can be used...the y junction is where this mod is needed most to stop the arm from batting stuff off the conveyor...besides that perfect...any advice??
