About this mod

When using power armor targeting hud or berry mentats, slain enemy corpses will highlight orange. Accessing their inventory will make the orange highlight disappear.

Summary:

I like looting.  I frequently lose track of all the corpses I create in my adventures which is detrimental to looting.  There are mods out there that highlight corpses, and some also only highlight if the corpse has loot that can be sold for caps but that solution requires you to take EVERYTHING from the corpse that has value (even if it's just 1 caps worth).  If you play in survival you have greatly reduced carry weight which prevents you from taking literally everything which means these solutions don't really work.  So I decided to make a solution of my own.

When using berry mentats, power armor targeting hud, or anything else that grants "detect life" as a feature, slain enemies will highlight orange.  As soon as you investigate the corpse (the second the inventory menu pops up) the orange highlight will disappear.

This effect only applies to enemies killed in game.  It does not show up on corpses that spawn in dead like the dog and wastelander just across the bridge from sanctuary to red rocket.

Compatibility:

Mods that alter the targeting hud helmet mod for power armor, berry mentats, or the detect life effect will conflict.  I have provided compatibility patches for Targeting HUD and Berry Mentats Enhanced and Horizon.  Choose one or the other as they both override berry mentats.  Install both the main files and the patch file for whichever mod your using.

Special note, it appears to override Horizon's white corpse highlight, even after the corpse is marked as looted.  I'll try to get them to play nice together but I don't really care about corpses I've already looted not highlighting anyways so not a huge priority to me.  Targeting HUD Enhanced on the other hand seems to play both shaders at once so you get blue smoke AND orange smoke which I think is a feature.

Installing/Uninstalling:

Should be safe to install or uninstall whenever.  If you already have targeting hud on your power armor and you're IN your power armor when you load your save for the first time after installing you will have to leave your power armor and re-enter it for the effect to begin.

Credits:

I made the shader effect by copying and modifying the base game's detect life shader effect so credit to bethesda for that file.  Also for making a game so easily and readily modifiable.

I also borrowed inspiration from Targeting hud enhanced so props to Yukichigai, the author, as well.

I used FO4Edit to check compatibility and do general cleanup so credit should be given to the FO4Edit team.  A lot of this stuff wouldn't be possible without them.

Thanks and enjoy!
