Funny idea, but bassically you can abuse it for other things.
Also it won't fix the origin. ( Brahmin of trashcan Carla still spawning in my house in the bedroom every time...)

A few people have made this suggestion / request but there would likely be some obvious copyright issues.

I would like to give a thank you to you, mod author, for making this. I may only use it for the silver shroud quest, but it's EXTREMELY helpful, since Kent never seems to like walking to the elevator like he's supposed to.

... or simply add a water trough for them in the settlement. they will move to it.

... Except the problem doesn't pertain only to brahmin. Case in point, I have a human settler who was stuck on a roof so I downloaded this mod to try to get him down. (Thus, I'm confirming that in 2021 this mod still works! Had no issues getting the gun and holotape, but I installed this mid-playthrough, not prior to character creation. So if anyone has issues, I suggest hold off on enabling this mod until after you get out of Vault 111.)

Anyway, the irony out of all this though was that as soon as I reloaded my save after installing this the settler was automatically back on the ground so I technically didn't even need this. (As if the AI sensed I got this awesome rifle so he was like, "oh s*** I better stop lollygagging" lmao!) Anyway, it's still good to have just in case more dumb settlers find themselves stuck on the roof somehow. How they get stuck there in the first place, only the game engine knows.

1.)  Thanks for the kind words.

2.)  The game engine actually randomizes the location of NPCs when you travel to a Settlement.  This causes no end of various problems for obvious reasons.

3.)  All my mods use a Papyrus library that has been rigorously tested which triggers a specified quest (which may do things like start an actual, playable quest or add a holotape to the player's inventory, or just about anything else provided it can be expressed as a quest in the CK.)  This mod's holotape is added in this manner.  This library either waits for the player to exit Vault 111 for the first time or immediately does whatever it is set to do since the player is already through the introductory quests.

I wrote this specifically to solve the problem of plugins that add something to the player's inventory right as they're started only to have that thing removed from their inventory before they had any control of what happens to them.  If someone would like to report an issue of the holotape not making it in to their inventory, I would be happy to attempt reproducing it to debug the problem.  If there is a bug in my logic somewhere, then I need to know since it affects just about every single one of my mods.

if there was not absolutley no indication on how to get the holotape or gun in the description of this mod I'm sure I would love it. Nothing spawned in my inventory. I got a little message to left that the mod installed.

I just "help gtfd 4" and got the alien blaster. Zapped that f*#@ing Brahmin around. I dunno if this mod has other possibilities, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to make it work properly.

Only one or two people on either platform I've released this on have indicated that this is an issue. Both the holotape and the default rifle should spawn in your inventory when the mod installs. There is one possibility, though. Have you installed any alternate start mods? The holotape and the default rifle won't spawn in your inventory until after you've left Vault 111 for the first time and I track that by the progress through "Out of Time."

I bring all that up because the package framework I wrote for all my mods is designed to guarantee that anything which has to happen only after leaving the Vault (i.e. making sure something isn't added to your inventory during the pre-vault opening sequence only to be wiped out by the inventory reset, etc.) happens consistently and predictably and I have my own QA routines to make sure this works as expected. Having the mod install itself (per the message in the corner) means the whole framework has initialized itself as expected and completed setup steps (which include spawning the holotape and rifle.)

If you're unsure of the state of your save, would you do me a favor and run "GetStage MQ102" in your console? If it's less than 10, then there isn't a whole lot I can do for you easily other than suggesting that you "SetStage MQ102 10" and see what happens. If you do go that route, please save first.

EDIT: If you can confirm that you're both using an alternate start mod and that the "Out of Time" quest is not progressing because of this, I may be able to rework the script I wrote to detect the Vault 111 exit to allow for other possibilities. Thanks.

There isn't a readily accessible command, no. Out of curiosity, when you uninstalled and reinstalled, was there a notification about GTFD doing something in the upper left corner? Do be aware that the holotape is VIS-compliant and begins with the tag [Holotape] if that helps any.

This is great. Maccready was stuck on one of my buildings in Sanctuary for days. Installed this, shot him with a GTFD weapon, and he spawned right next to me. Perfect.

The holotape has a typo. "Fugde". But no biggy. Not worth an update just for that! I just noticed no one else had said anything. Hehe. Super easy fix with FO4Edit for people to do themselves.

Thanks a ton for implementing the ViS compatibility. Great mod. Endorsed!

D'oh! Thanks for noting the typo. It won't be an update, no, but it will be a bugfix patch when I roll around to it.

Not on FO4 right now. Still downloading. Those roof - and everywhere else they're nor supposed to be (eg in my BED........) -Brahmin are really a major pain in the rear. This ought to hit hot files like a snap

I appreciate the sentiment, but Hot Files is a long way off with eighty-seven unique downloads over a period of almost three weeks since release.
  9. I haven't had this issue in like forever, I see this mod and think cool about time, launch my game to play and then see FOUR settlers on roofs!!! WTH!?! DL'ed and thanks for the mod!
