Disappointed you left out navy as a color.... with a muted yellow. Just generally darker optionwithout going full black.

Forgive me it this is too noob a comment, but how exactly does one use this mod once installed. I installed using NMM on PC, but when I use the armor crafting station to try to modify my vault suit, I do not see any of the options offered by this mod. I do have both required DLCs installed.

First, a small point I need to make just to be safe: the modifications are performed at the armor station present in vanilla fallout, not the Armor Crafting Station added by AWKCR.

Assuming that your problem isn't about confusing the crafting stations, here are some other things you can check:
      1. Is the vault suit you are using one added by another mod? Those are not supported. I recommend you use the vault 111 jumpsuit, as it has the widest range of options.
      2. Are there any other mods present that modify the jumpsuit? If so, this mod needs to be lower in your load order so it can overwrite them.
      3. Are all of the requirements installed (especially AWKCR)?

Thank you for your informative and helpful reply. A few of the required DLCs had not installed installed correctly, which in turn was causing AWKCR to crash the game at the welcome screen. I am currently in the processes of downloading and installing all DLCs anew, then AWKCR and finally try again, hoping for the best.

    WHYYYYYY?!
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
    WHAT HAVE YOU DOOOONE?!

About 10 months ago I started my still ongoing FO4 playthrough. Before that I installed plenty of mods (btw, including proto vault suit and badass vault-suits & coats, though I never used the latter ones in the end) but was upset and kinda surprised I couldn't find any mods that allowed for good customization of vault suits.
    "Oh, well" - I thought.
And despite the fact that I really like how vault-suits look, I ended up almost never using them during my entire game (being a crazy person, I gave manually selected&upgraded&colored gear to every companion and every single settler in every single settlement I have) because they didn't match other pieces of armor well.
And now that I'm approaching the very end of the game and I'm 97-98% done with settlements, settlers (I have ~115 settlers in my settlements and I don't plan to build any more settlements, save for maybe Spectacle Island, but it will be my personal settlement for me&companions only) and companions, you have to release this mod.

The mod is FANTASTIC, AWESOME, AMAZING, GREAT!!!
I'm having a craftgasm and I'm crying at the same time.
You have my endorsement, kudos and a bucket of my tears.

      Oh, no-no-no...
I'm deleting the game the very moment I finish it.
      No second playthrough.
As much as I liked certain aspects of it (mostly because of mods), many original bugs, features and limitations have been killing me.
I just like to finish things and I want to learn more about the game's world, so that's why I'm still playing.

So I'll have to find ways to use your great mod in the current game...

I turned my player character's original vault suit black with grey/black trim, and it worked. But, after I put it in a chest and wore something else for about an in-game day, when I put the black vault suit back on, suddenly the trim was yellow and I can't for the life of me get it back to black.

When I first changed the color, grey/black trim:

After it had been in a chest for a while and then put on again, suddenly yellow trim:

Am I doing something wrong? I installed the simplest, base version of the mod with the NMM. I have AWKCR, Armorsmith Extended and The Mercenary Pack, but no other clothing-related mods.

I'm not aware of any mod conflicts that would cause that to happen. I'd try just removing the base color and trim armor mods, then reapplying them. It might also be worth it to get a new vault suit and try changing the colors on that

I tried your first suggestion before, and tried it again just in case. No change. The trim stays yellow, no matter what I change it into.

As per your second suggestion, I got another vault suit and made it black with black trim, but unlike the first time where it started out working and then stopped working, it didn't even work at all this time, not even to start with. The trim is yellow and stays yellow. It's like the game just chose to forget the recolor after that one first time, and not just for one vault suit, but for all vault suits.

It might be that the normals for the trim textures got overwritten or deleted somehow, although I'm not sure what other mods might do that. You can try reinstalling this mod, and if that's the case it will put the normals back.

If that's not the case, then it is most likely some sort of engine bug, save corruption, or any of the other nebulous catch-alls that seem to apply when the game does something that makes no sense. If this is what has happened, then making a new character, reloading an old save that didn't have the bug, or making a "clean" save might work.

I removed the mod and reinstalled it, but no luck. The trim is still yellow. I've no idea why this is happening, but I'll resign myself to the yellow. It's more tenacious than I am. XD Thanks for thinking along!

IS it just me, or is there no way to get white with black trim/numbers?

I think the white vault suit has a blue trim by default, but you can override the trim with one from a black vault suit in the customization options.

None of the trim options seem to work at all, Strangely enough. I also noticed that the trim keeps its yellow reflection even when recoloured black.

The normal/specular maps being used in most cases are the default vanilla, so they would still have a yellow/gold-ish color. As far as I can tell, this is part of the original texture artist's design. For reference, here is the pink suit as shown on the original Vault Suit Recolors page, which has a black trim: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1151/images/245-10-1448752536.jpg

If yours looks different, can you post a picture of it?

I've never used bodyslide, so I don't know why that might be. I assume that bodyslide edits the mesh, and since these are all using the original Vault suit mesh it wouldn't show the changed textures unless bodyslide has a way to select material swaps.
