Do you know what depth of field is? It's not a" mysterious, tantalizing effect" it's the distance between two objects that are both in focus. A larger depth of field means the two objects can be further apart and still be in focus from the point of view of the observer. It appears your mod creates a smaller depth of field, not larger. Not sure why. Kinda like wandering around after you broke your last pair of glasses.
This kind of DoF is only good for screen archery (if the archer knows what they do). In normal gameplay it will kill your eyes in less than 20min (I'm being generous here).
