Looks close to Vanilla, but better resolution and sharpness, nice work!
The issue with this bridge is likely how the mesh uses the texture in it's UV. So even a 4K or 8K texture will look blurry on that bridge because the assigned texture is stretched across a larger surface than usual.
I've seen this stuff happen in the Noir Penthouse CC mod as well. I've made a custom 2k texture for it and it looked weirdly stretched on some surfaces, but not on others.
Either way, this retexture keeps the vanilla look and feeling, but comes with greater detail.
This mod is a huge improvement from vanilla, and of all the wood retextures, I prefer this one the most. It actually looks really nice with certain light conditions from a distance.
I have one issue though...some have said "it still looks bad", and I don't agree that it looks bad, but when you stand close - it still does look a little "off" or possibly even blurry. I play at 1080p on a 50'' low latency (Sony Gaming - so don't tell me anything about input lag, this only has 17ms) led TV, so a lot of imperfections are easily seen mainly due to the size of the TV. I have noticed nearly every single wood mod to suffer from this effect, yet things like metal are so uber detailed from 99% of people. Same goes with things like trash piles and such. I mean your gun textures, even the wood components are out of this world! They are fricken awesome really.
My question is, why is wood so difficult to get right and why is it still quite blurry up close? This bridge in particular seems to be a struggle for nearly everyone, even Bethesda. Is it how the meshes and such interact with the texture? Or is it that people spend more time with metal and/or armor and weapons as they do with wood. Sorry cause I have no idea about textures!
My other concern is that wood is done so beautifully in Skyrim - which has the same engine as this game - yet wood seems so...off in Fallout 4. I doubt it's because of the radiation! ha ha.
to be honest, I'm not quite sure why it looks so bad. I will admit that its not up to par with my other work but most if not all of the textures in this game are really finicky when it comes to making the normal maps. if its not done and saved in the exact proper order/filetype it will come out muddy, and either way too bright or way over contrasted.
I'm sure though, that in time someone will come and redo everything and make it look better then my mods.
the way i understand it a texture needs an uv-map to tell what part of the texture is applied to which place on the mesh. if the mesh is ok and the texture is ok and hires, the problem must be a bad uv-map?
what we need is someone like brumbek to make for fallout what he did for skyrim http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8655/?
For those still looking for options to use Jester's bridge textures along with a repaired version of the Sanctuary bridge, I made a quick mod for that (with Jester's permission). Since Jester is currently without PC, I've got the mod uploaded on Nexus here: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9637/?
Also, check the comments in this mod for two additional options for a repaired bridge & new textures from other modders.
Look negative feedback often helps a mod author improve their mods - but you need to be;
1. Nice about it. 2. Have some constructive criticism which includes more detail.
Everyone want's the same thing here - we all want Fallout 4 to be as good as it can be by using mods or making them. When you say it still looks bad, not only does it not help, but you can affect the confidence and motivation of the mod author. Not only can you affect the mod author, you can tarnish the community and it's reputation. A new modder might not release his or her work because of fear of ridicule or reading bad comments, some people might not release a mod or even make one because they feel the community is bad.
Sadly since my time here, the community is going downhill. It used to be a great place with a zero tolerance to trolls, but lately there are a lot of demanding people who spew out hurtful, demanding or rude comments with no regards to the person who has spent their own free time and energy for no cost to us, to improve the game for everyone. Modding truly is a selfless act - and people need to be thankful for it.
I noticed this time of behaviour in recent times, and it is getting a lot worse and I feel it's partly the new generation of people who have no manners and feel it's okay to be rude on social media.
Unless you can do better - and even then - so show some respect or don't post at all.
I Endorsed long ago and can't get mine to work either.
Mine looks nothing like the screenshots. It seems to be a problem with the wood textures or something, tried Improved Sanctuary Bridge too. I've tried checking the path is correct and nothing is overwriting it. I've got working 129 mods, with 67 of them being esp files, so I know how to install mods.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Edit: Oh, going to try the 4k version. He says it's due to being poorly UV mapped, so even 2k will still look bad.
Mine looks just like the screenshots, and I have tried all the textures now for this bridge and for my tastes this is my favorite. The main reason is not because it's the most detailed or the least blurry etc, it's that at certain times in the morning and afternoon, it reflects light much nicer than a lot of the other flatter and more dull textures.
Also yes, they stated that it's a mesh issue or whatever that stops this bridge from getting a nice overhaul - until we get the proper tools, we will just have to do with what suits our tastes, because most of these retextures is good work.
