What?
Deflect Oncoming Damage from Guns Energy/Electricity and Melee
This mod adds a new type of damage mitigation that does not rely on Damage Resistance(DR). Instead, based on how high you've leveled your Dodge you will get a percentage based chance to block all damage that would otherwise be dealt to you. For example, if you have accrued +20 Dodge by gaining two ranks of Toughness and one rank of Moving Target while sprinting you will have a 20% chance (or 1 in 5) to not take damage per enemy attack.

Why?
This mod was built to allow the player to avoid taking rapid, successive, or fatal damage without having to resort to power armor like always. It was always upsetting to me that the only effective way to tank damage was to wear power armor. It felt uninvolved and very low risk. Rather than properly going toe-to-toe with the bad guy, the player is forced to fight in what is essentially a portable tank and watch as the enemy dings away at your shock-resistant steel plating until he or it breaks. It's like the Iron Giant fighting a bunch of toy tanks. Not fun. Instead, here you can invest in some perks that you likely never gave a second look to and gain a stacking investment into a chance to totally Dodge enemy attacks.

How?
Easy! The player will have several opportunities to invest in his own new Dodge skill. This includes perks, chems, and armor. the following is a list of changes to the game that add new dodging features. Remember that unless otherwise specified, all Dodge increases stack up to define your percentage based chance to dodge. Be warned that Dodge will not work if the player has power armor equipped.
Perks
All Perks replace their generally lackluster Damage Resistance with the new Dodge.
  • Toughness/Trickery - Gain +4/8/12/16/20 Dodge.
  • Refractor/Relaxer - Gain +4/8/12/16/20 Dodge while crouched.
  • Moving Target - Gain +12/24 Dodge while sprinting. Additionally, Rank 3 allows you to gain the effects while running.
  • Nerd Rage - While below 20% Health, Gain +8/12/16 Dodge.
  • United We Stand (Preston's Perk) - While you are surrounded by 3 or more enemies, gain +8 Dodge.
  • Rooted - While standing still, you have a 15/30% chance to avoid incoming damage. This works in power armor and independently from Dodge.

Chems
Four new chems have been made to work with Dodge. More powerful chems come with more powerful addictions, some of which are quite detrimental.
  • GetSet (alchohol) - Gain +8 Dodge for 5 minutes.
  • JetSet (chem) - Slow time for 15 seconds and gain +8 Dodge for 5 minutes.
  • RadioX (chem) - Gain +32 Dodge for 30 seconds, but deal no damage while affected.
  • JetSet RadioX (chem) - Gain +40 Dodge and slow time for 30 seconds, but deal no damage while affected.
    Additionally, a craftable book is available for players who find all 5 Unstoppables magazines that grants a permanent +4 Dodge.

Armor
The Bolstering Legendary mod has been replaced with Blinding. There is no health requirement for this mod. Instead, you gain a flat +5 Dodge per armor piece you wear.
In 1.2 and below, this is the case. 1.5 and beyond adds various armor materials to the existing armors in the game that improve Dodge and sometimes grant comparable stats to other existing material counterparts.
Installation
Install this mod using your preferred mod manager or extract the contents into your data folder. From now on, the 4Balance version of this mod will be the main and only updated one. You need only install one file, but if you choose to do so, you may download older versions of this mod. Keep in mind that former versions were based around a scale of 5 rather than 4 which you see described above. Below is a description of each of the former versions.

1.2 and below
Just install your preferred version through your prefered mod manager or drag and drop your chosen esp into your Data folder. Three versions of this mod exist:
Standard
This version is exactly what has already been presented. Expect a fairly steady climb in your Dodge ability. It will eventually be possible (though fairly difficult) for the player to reach maximum (100) Dodge without the use of RadioX, allowing you attack and be invincible at once, but before you give this a pass let me list all of the requirements to reach +100 Dodge.
  • Trickery rank 5 (+25 Dodge)
  • 5 Blinding armor pieces (+25 Dodge)
  • Sleep with Preston Garvey for United We Stand and be surrounded by at least 3 enemies (+10 Dodge).
  • Find all 5 Unstoppables mags and sacrifice them (+5 Dodge).
  • Drink a GetSet with Party Boy/Girl rank 2 (+10 Dodge).
  • Be crouched with Relaxer rank 5 or be sprinting/running with Moving Target rank 2/3 (+25/30 Dodge).

80 Cap
This version is identical to the one above, but any Dodge above +80 will not be used. That means regardless of your Dodge you are guaranteed at least a 20% chance to be struck. Recommended if you find the invincibility described above a bit too powerful, but still enjoy the climbing rate of the base mod.
4 Balance
This one I personally feel is the most balanced. Instead of everything being scaled by 5, it's scaled by 4. This means that your climb in Dodge is slower, but you will not be able to ever reach +100 Dodge without RadioX. This is recommended if you prefer a more challenging climb and would prefer the higher levels to still provide an acceptable challenge.
Future
I make no promises.
  • The added chems and book are using stock assets. It'd be nice to make new ones.
  • A HUD element to provide you feedback on what your current Dodge is. (If you'd like to know your current Dodge type player.GetAV DodgeChance into the console.)
  • Not much else I guess. Maybe another rebalance. The first minor rebalance is up.

Disclaimer
Warning: Dodge does not and will not cover limb damage, poison damage, damage over time, radiation and possibly explosions. If you find yourself suffering from one or more of those mentioned consider other mods, perks or chems to reduce your damage taken from these effects. This mod very clearly overrides several perks. Using this mod in combination with other mods that override perk benefits voids your right to complain. Otherwise, if you find incompatibilities with other mods please let me know. You may find other mods that indirectly reference overridden perks/armor will still use their original name. This is natural, but they will generally work the same as this mod intends. This mod is one you may not find balanced at times. If you feel this is the case, feel free to post your feedback and suggestions. I warn you that I have not done a full playthrough using this mod and you may find situations that i have not accounted for. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
