    Just to let people know, if you have the issue where you are in the main world part of the game and you face West all the way to almost South, and the light inverts on your barrels while you are in shadow (making the barrel glow like it's in sunlight), THIS DOES NOT SOLVE THAT ISSUE!

    Big sad as that is a huge nitpick of mine, it almost always eventually kills my enthusiasm for playing the game.

    I have absolutely no real idea what this mod is supposed to fix then. I've never really had any "flickering" issue. Literally the only shadow issue I have is exactly what I describe above, the shadow inverts while in the main world, while in shadow, when facing West all the way to almost South.

    It's been present since day 1.

    Small little s#*! like this, is why I think Daggerfall is the superior RPG experience. Even compared to Fallout and Skyrim.

    In 30 years I doubt we will see a fan port of these modern "games" ported to a new engine and tons of fixes implemented, simply because those people loved the game that much.

    And that should tell you everything you need to know about why Modern Games suck.

      I just started a new playthrough a couple days ago and got this issue, except mine causes the bottom and right side of the screen to light up with sunlight in shadows. Look in one direction and no problem, then slightly turn the camera and a big block of sunlight casts onto the hands, weapon, any objects beside the character. I've searched for hours and tried everything under the sun, reinstalled 3 times, completely vanilla, nothing works. It's so annoying I can't play the game anymore and Fallout 4 is my favorite game. I never had this issue in 7 years and now I can't get rid of it. Nobody has any clue what causes it or how to fix it. Effectively killed this game for good for me. All I can do is reinstall over and over and hope it goes away.

    Yeah, this didn't make a lick of difference for me. Shadows are still flickering in and out of existence with a twitch of my mouse.

    hey hey
    I'm assuming you might be able to help with a shadow problem I'm having since you got a shadow mod. I have very bad shadow quality. they are blocky and basically a thorn in my eyes. I tired your mod in hopes to get it fixed but it didn't help. i actually made a steam discussion post about it and it kinda blew up but didn't get any answers. basically if I start the game from steam the shadows are great but through F4SE is terrible. at first I thought it had to do with mods but I got told otherwise but I'm still not sure. weirdly for some reason the shadows on the player and the NPCs are good quality from certain angles except the very bottom of their feet missing but everything else is Minecraft. I tried many pref settings to no avail.

      ok so I fixed the issue and I feel very dumb. well here is the thing, I did the right thing but in the wrong place. so I made the changes to the ini files but they were reverting back which is why they weren't working. from what I heard you have to change the ini then make the ini file "read only" so it doesn't change itself BUT if you are using mo2 thats where you need to make the changes. just click on tools and press INI editor and make the changes there them save. its as simple as that.

      hey sorry for the late response. I haven't been here for a while.
      are you using MO2? if yes then I can help.

      basically what I did was
      * open MO2 and click on tools (its the jigsaw puzzle thingy)
      * then click on the ini editor and go to *Fallout Prefs ini*
      * find these commands
      fDirShadowDistance=
      fShadowDistance=
      uiOrthoShadowFilter=
      * then change their value from what they are to that.
      I think your values are lower than 8000.0000 for you to have that issue.
      fDirShadowDistance=8000.0000
      fShadowDistance=8000.0000
      uiOrthoShadowFilter=3

      dont forget to click save btw. then check and see if that helped.

    I just spent about an hour or two messing around with a bunch of different values for sun shadow updates.

    After all of it, the settings you provided are easily the smoothest. Alternatives either provide blocky movement or rapid flickering as the shadows update.

    Thanks
