This is fantastic!!! I check for a mod that will remove that stupid sound like every other week. Can't believe I didn't find this when you first posted it, but sure am glad I found it now. Thank you.
Wow -- thank you so much for this! Just installed it this morning and it works great! Nice and quiet, can hear the birds with no creaking. Thanks again for this simple solution to an annoying problem.
If you are interested in a more challenging endeavor, there is another sound problem that effects settlers directly which no one has yet fixed but many have been wanting a solution.
This problem is that when settlers use the workbenches and get interrupted, the workbench sound sticks to them and never stops until they use the workbench again and complete their cycle normally. Since their use of the workbenches is random, it can be a long while; I currently have several settlers walking around with sounds stuck to them. I think this is a script that gets assigned to the settler but doesn't get properly removed when they are made to leave the workbench early, so perhaps a fix might be to have an item in the creative mode "v" in a settlement which provides the ability to remove these workbench scripts from any particular settler -- choose a settler with a workbench sound stuck on them, then choose an option to remove workbench sound. I'm sure this isn't so easy as I make it sound, but having this would be a good solution to a problem many are having (google the problem and you'll see it is a common search item for Fallout 4.)
Ah, that's too bad but I understand. Apparently it's a problem without a solution. I wonder if this reflects a limitation of F4SE or that Bethesda just did not provide a way to get that information from the game.
Edit: I found something similar to your mod which just vacates the sound in a file and replaces the original. This is the third workbench sound I've had to do this to because of problems. Bethesda really screwed the pooch design-wise on much of the sound in this game as concerns settlement-related stuffs. The parts they got right work really well: I wonder what happened.
Can't help you bro. You shouldn't have said that you were "looking for love" first time you met Carla - now she's gonna stalk you for the rest of her life. Just be glad she doesn't know your Institute address...
the best of all, its that the mod its not an esp plugin, only sound replacemets, like the building mods,so no count against the limit of plugins for all the players...i dont use esp plugins, after all the patches for the developers and the mess that was that
i known how the thing works(the editor and such but i dont get it installed, dont have time either for the bsa extractor too, great things of course)
now sanctuary its really relaxing, Piper enjoy it with a beer...cool

ahhhhh
I myself didn't realize how annoying those metal creaks were until I removed them, I thought only downtown Boston was a problem area for me.
So, thanks for attracting my attention to that. Enjoy the Silence!
