Gotta ask though.. There is another quest in the institute that sends the player to ask for a report from the mayor... After this mod is installed, how will that repeatable quest be completable?
Good point - I forgot to account for that, my mistake.
The latest version now fails Political Leanings when In Sheep's Clothing is done, and without the mayor, the quest will no longer be able to be undertaken. It also retroactively applies this to the saves which have Political Leanings stuck in the quest log.
So as long as we complete Political Leanings first, usually not long after first entering the Institute, then it's fine? From what I understand, this mod will not activate In Sheep's Clothing until the Subversion questline has been fully completed, correct? I'd prefer to keep this mod activated on new games, instead of having to disable it until I'm ready for the quest.
Mod appears to still be working fine, with latest NG version. I'm currently using a combination of Subversion and SS2, hoping this will help keep the game "immersive" when The Ron steps in as DC mayor. This should also allow Ron to take over without the need for console commands. I'm still a ways off before I get to that point, and I'll update my post once I've confirmed it worked. But so far, the mod works as advertised.
Thank you. It seemed to have originally been intended for this quest to be completeable when sided with the Institute, given the dialogue lines take that into account, so should still be fine.
Until recently, I've been using the Thuggyverse mods (OaR, Depravity, and PV) in combination with SS2 and multiple patches to keep everything working properly. Because Depravity mod does its own version of "In Sheep's Clothing", getting rid of the mayor and assigning the player as the temporary replacement. Once The Ron from SS2 takes over the job, everything works well immersion-wise. But you were still required to use a console command to get a DC alliance working properly, since SS2 was checking to see if "In Sheep's Clothing" was completed or not. And Depravity mod's new replacement version of that quest doesn't count, nor does it flag the original quest as having been completed either.
I have been getting tired of a lot of the Thuggyverse content, and read about Subversion mod. Looked like something I wanted to try out for this play-through, but because it has you siding with the Institute you never get to complete "In Sheep's Clothing" and the mayor is still hanging around. That causes an immersion-breaking conflict when The Ron is supposed to take his place. If playing SS2 and Subversion, and you want DC as an ally, this mod actually allows it to occur "naturally" and without breaking immersion.
I'll still need to progress far enough into SS2 again to confirm, but I'm pretty sure this mod will allow me to gain DC as an ally without the need for console commands, and it will fit with the rest of the storyline just fine.
Makes sense, and it was originally intended like this as lines are recorded that you side with the Institute, so gating this seemed to be a last-minute decision. Please let me know if it works for you.
I love the Institute but this fatabot was never on my allies list. Though, doesn't that make it a bit lore-breaking ? If I recall correctly the characters talks about the Institute being gone.
