I would just start by having a look at the tags listed on the valdacil's page. The other thing you may wish to do is to open Valdacil's Item Sorting in FO4Edit (which is what I use to make all my VIS patches) and see how they deal with weapons specifically.
Most of modding like this is just looking at how another mod does something in FO4Edit and then applying the concept :) lol
Just a heads up that the link to Unique Uniques in the Mod Manager Download goes to the skyrim version of the mod and not the F04 one. Only the links in the description go to the F04 mod.
