Instead of taking up the receiver category, one can make a new one called chamber (present in New Calibers), and keep all of the re-chamber object modifications separate from the receiver mods, which saves you time, frustration and workbench HUD space. You don't have to make a hardened, powerful, and advanced receiver for every caliber. Also, if you attach a damage value to the ammunition record, you don't even have to re-calculate the damage in the caliber changing records either.
