With the destruction of the institute this technology was lost but thanks to you, now the brotherhood of steel has managed to replicate this piece of technology, although limited but incredible and very useful. And to think that the institute used this technology to do horrible things to people.
Just a bit of fun and free thought, I like this mod idea but would love to see a more star wars or D&D version than an institute version, star wars you would enter another realm (interior cell) similar to when you are in Kellog's mind BUT instead of memories the web way would lead to portal doors leading to various destinations, Alternatively drawing sword and sorcery fantasy a long endless hallway with doors leading off to either side leading to other locations but hey I am not a modder so just spitballing.
Teleportation, to destroy the original (Die when you enter at the send point) be deconstructed down to the subatomic level and turned into information (only the information not the mass or energy) that information is then sent to a receiving station (The destination) were an effective CLONE of the original is recreated including memories up to the point at which it was scanned as it was being torn apart at the subatomic level, probably arrive screaming in pain and horror.
Quantum Teleportation (A wrong name it is actually Quantum TRANSLOCATION) an object exists within a state of super position that is somehow probably through quantum entanglement similar to how information and quantum states have actually been successfully translocated in real world experiments a carrier such as a split or mirrored photon is used to Quantum entangle the object, through the medium of the mirrored split photon or quantum field it is then said to exist at both locations were the entangled mirrored photon exists, this would NOT necessitate the destruction of the original as it would still be the original (barring parallel reality crossover event's and mirrored universe interference) that would appear at the destination location, unlike Linear Teleportation (destroying the original and creating a copy of a person or object through energy to mass to information and information back to mass to energy synthesis) this would potentially enable movement between destinations at quantum speed (thousands of times faster than the speed of light).
Since there may be no attenuation in quantum mirrored particles or photons distance would only be limited by the speed of light which is the rate and time it would take to move the receiver particle or wave to it's destination before entangling and translocating the passenger at the sending station's own mirrored (Quantum) particle or waveform.
Pretty scary stuff, now while I don't mind translocation I would not touch teleportation with a barge pole or for that matter my neighbours cousin's sisters barge pole, it would simply not be me arriving at the destination as I would be killed by the process of scanning my particles and what WOULD arrive would actually be a copy of me a clone or facsimile - without my own soul.
The institutes version of a teleporter is probably more similar to a quantum translocator but the energy requirements make me think that just perhaps it is so hungry for juice because it perhaps is destroying the original and recreating it at the destination, same with Starfleet's teleporters as they have a COPY of what was sent in their memory buffer and on occasion duplicates have accidentally been created of people and objects moved by that fictional method of transportation (Except it is NOT transportation it's more like a suicide machine at one and and a cloner at the other).
Give me quantum translocation or a good old fashioned science fiction wormhole transporter OR a 1800's medium's Spiritual APPORT phenomena - look up psychometry and apported - also of note look how spiritual mediums of that period mirrored later quantum scientists with their tales of resonance and vibration long before scientists cottoned onto the same ideas) any day rather than that nightmare.
Now I have to give a Kudos to the mod maker, I am not downloading at this time and also thanks for your creating thinking it is indeed the sort of Technology both the BOS and the Enclave would go crazy to control OR destroy, so too if they were not doomed to be destroyed would the NCR and of course Mr House down in New Vegas would see infinite potential in it even to colonising the moon and mars and beyond given that he has access to hoover dam's power output and several other facility's (Oh and given that a certain high ranking institute scientists is currently wandering around with his own synth body guard Dr ZIMMER and his side kick Armitage, is the institute really gone OR did they put their eggs in more than one basket? and could they make a come back perhaps at some future point even fail to take over Big Mountain in future failed sonic attack on that NV dlc location? and then their is the ubiquitous and nefarious vault tec.
Doesn't work for me I built 2 of them for a little test, and they're in working order, but when I try to use them, the window to select the destination opens but only shows empty spots Is there another special thing I need to do before I can use them?
This mod doesn't work for me. I've connected every piece together and I get all fails except for the Relay Beam. I touch the platform, and I get (in order) True, False, False, False, even though they are all connected and fully powered.
I had the same problem but it was because I had another power grid close to the thing and the plaform, which uses passive power, connected to the wrong one
I disagree with making the technology available early, it should be behind physicist, robotics and INT10 pre-requisites if it were made available early (but even then, the idea of a pre-war guy understanding and implementing technology before being exposed to the institute, it's just BLEH ... if you're that desperate to have fast-travel early, then don't play survival.
Afterall, this mod is only really useful for survival players, right ? Otherwise .. quick travel to your little heart's content.
For me, unlocking the tech mid/later game is ideal, you've already gotten a bit tired of running around everywhere, the timing is great.
My only problem with the mod - the constant lightning effect. I think it should be more like the first relay you build .. glowing slightly, showing it's receiving power .. but the lightning effect etc should only be reserved for when there's an actual teleportation (and if that's not possible, get rid of it altogether).
Love the mod, endorsed the mod, but the lightning effect and sounds constantly emanating from the relay does spoil it quite a bit.
Not complaining, but. It would be much better to select the destination using the control console on your own and then step on the platform to actually start the process. Why would I need settler, if I can do myself? And unlike random settler I am actually qualified to operate high-end tech like this. Also would be great to have this thing powered only few seconds before and few seconds after teleportation and not the whole time. Otherwise it seems to be a cool mod and the only one with a proper looking relay.
Just wanted to see if anyone else was having this issue. For some reason it isn't working in vault 88 so far its the only settlement its doing this at (BTW I'm on Xbox but felt you'd probably see it sooner on here)

I also have all of my relays wired with an "emergency shutoff switch" for immersion's sake.
