Eight versions of Dogmeat are now available for download at version 1.3 and I'm proud to say that for over a year now I've kept this mod going and improving with this being by far the largest update. I've fixed all but one of the issues with Dogmeat and re-balanced old files while renaming and adding news ones to fill gaps between difficulties along with new perks and more! No need for me to explain the difference between them because the names should now speak for themselves (Unlike before dear God...) so no need for me to rattle on about them. Just remember that you must have only one of these installed at a time when using my improved Dogmeat otherwise there will be issues. This mod will be compatible with any mod that edits Dogmeat's textures and models but stay free of mods that edit Dogmeat's stats and AI.

Had to patch a small issue with the wrong weight calculations with Normal; sorry for the hassle!
Everytime I reset the modav strength 1 and modav strength -1 after doing the previous steps, the speedmult stays at 140, but the carry weight goes to 200. That should be fine, except when I re-equip the stars and stripes bandana, Dogmeat's carry weight goes to 325. I don't think this is intentional, as currently at level 16 on survival mode with survival dogmeat mod, I only have 235 carry weight with 2 points in back and 1 point in LW. Also I previously had him on my active save when I started the game over on Normal for dogmeat, but I changed it later on when I realized he wasnt doing enough damage and had low resistances
Realizied this is not just caused by the stars and stripes bandana, but by anything that is equipable to dogmeat, so stuff like welding goggles etc will increase his carry weight to 325.
Figured out from a past comment, if you use modav carryweight -125 you can lower the carry weight from 325 from equipping items on dogmeat, back to 200. the move speed is still the same at 140.
Great mod but its missing the most important thing and thats keeping him out of the way when your trying to walk through a door, this is one of the biggest reasons players leave him behind, at least for me it's that way, it gets old real quick and this also is a problem with a lot of followers.
Unfortunately, Dogmeat's behavior is hardcoded and thus, cannot ever be changed. No matter what you attempt to do, Dogmeat will always block doorways and will always be directly under your crosshair, where you will be constantly opening Dogmeat's command dialogue instead of looting containers or picking up items because Dogmeat's perpetually in the way.
For my own personal tastes, I had to edit it to remove a lot of the perks and heavily reduce the damage, I'm playing an ultra hardcore game so Dogmeat was a little OP. I definitely recommend the "No Knockdown" version as during testing, Dogmeat was constantly throwing legendary deathclaws and behemoths around the floor which looks a little silly.
Having Dogmeat JUST RANDOMLY CATCH UP IN INTERIORS ONLY TO GO DOWN FROM WHAT MY GUESS IS FALL DAMAGE BUT THAT DOESNT MAKE SENSE SINCE THIS ADDS THAT PERK
For some reason Dogmeat has 665 carry weight. I have the mod that doubles the default carry weight for me (and I think companions too?) because carry weight limitations are way too big of a hurdle in Bethesda games and I'm a filthy hoarder, but even with the double capacity, that would mean he still has about 330 default weight. I'm not sure if this is a problem but I just wanted to mention it.
I have wanted this mod for years now and I've considered buying a pc just to get this specific mod multiple times, idk if you still even mod anymore but if you do and your feeling kind, porting it to Xbox would be very much appreciated
always liked having dogmeat by my side but the shortcomings of his combat ai just can't be ignored 🙏🙏🙏
