Help me understand: 1. does this mod change tree textures only for those that the player builds or does it change everything, including those already in the game? 2. Added by mods structures with vanilla textures will be changed?
It changes the wood textures for the vanilla wood set, greenhouses and DLC barn set. Any objects already placed or built in the game, as well as modded objects that use the same textures will all be affected.
These textures look ok, about as good as the originals. All you did was change the style, choosing to highlight things like knots or just changing the size of planks.
I wanted to keep the original design but make it more natural and less repetitive. I didn't want to make them too clean because, in my opinion, it would look weird for a rundown shack to have pristine boards, floors, walls and columns on it. If you want something in that flavor try "Shack Floors Re-Done 4K by TheMatthewBe" or "Shack Wood Replacer by WoodWhale".
No what I mean is that if someone went in and installed this without my knowledge I would never know anything changed.
It's not about how clean they are it's about how miniscule of a change is actually perceptible.
I admit I'm biased by frustrations with 99% of texture packs that put in minimal or no effort and because they percieve that they did put in an effort they value their mod much higher and insist that those who can't the difference are trolls.
I want to see a mod that actually replaces the textures with perceptivley new and more detailed textures, not a simple touch up and spacing adjustment.
This was a pretty obnoxious couple of comments. It’s not even really criticism so much as it is a bit of a whinge. Now criticism is absolutely fine, as nothing is ever perfect and above critique. However, it’s HOW you deliver it that’s the issue. Essentially you’ve come in here and told the author you’re not impressed because the changes weren’t radically different. It’s rude and disrespectful. This is how you could have worded it without sounding like an entitled toddler:
”Thanks for sharing this mod! I’ve tried it out and experimented with my builds, but I’m not sure if it’s right for what I’m after. This is a great mod, don’t get me wrong, but I think I need something that alters the wood pieces in a more obvious way. This changes the textures to be a bit darker and cleaner, but fits in more with locations that are shabby without standing out. For a long time I’ve been searching for something more definitive I guess. If you or anyone might know of a mod that does what I’m after I’d love to know. Either way, this is a good mod and it’s cool you got on the front page!”
See? Polite, and acknowledges the purpose of the mod and design choice. Also doesn’t impose your opinion of not being obnoxiously different as a critique. The changes to the materials are actually pretty significant for those of us that build a lot, but let’s you build without making things too ridiculously clean. If you want something different download Snappy Housekit or something.
[Google Translated]
These are just textures so no new game needed and they should take effect immediately. You most likely have a mod conflict that overwrites this mod which is why the textures stay the same. That or you're installing the files in the wrong folder, maybe?

The pics I posted only use the 1K textures so if anyone uses the 2K or 4K textures don't be afraid to share some pics or videos!
Yes, finally made it to the Hot Files! (^_^)
Once again, thanks so much everyone!

Thanks for the interest!

You should never criticize movies, books or movies, unless you made a movie, wrote a book or a piece of music yourself. This is your own logic.
