If anyone has random CTDs with this mod, please let me know. I removed the trees by deleting references and that's apparently a no-no.
v2 is done. It gets rid of the ghost trees on the horizon and alleviates the deleted references problem. The only drawback is an increase in initial load time for the game (I guess I changed _that_ much!) I also got rid of some unintended edits in V1 (found them in mama murphy, dogmeat, and the player)
All in all, if V1 isn't giving you trouble and ghost trees don't bother you, there's no real need to upgrade.
If I got this mod with higher priorty over PRP, would there still be issues? Will the precombines be broken? I only want less trees in my games... Looking for an alternative right now.
Turns out I had both plugins enabled. I didn't realize that the base plugin already includes Remove Trees. Trying again with only one plugin each, I can build a working LOD with the base plugin. I still have the same problem with Remove Trees though. Any LOD I build from it contains the trees. (And I'd much rather use only Remove Trees because the loading times are orders of magnitude lower.)
What I ended up doing is building the LOD with DesolateWasteland.esp and then copying the .ba2s over to Remove Trees.esp and running with that. Seems to work fine.
