Would like to see all the dlc spots added as well.
Only difference i'd suggest adding is you can only fast travel to the item once its discovered (having visited it atleast 1 time.) Would also be cool to add in a cap fee that combined with the needing to visit it atleast once i think would balance it more. I'd view it as lore friendly sorta a integration of pipboy with institute technology and its better then trying to read the map. Science 4 is also great choice btw ty for that.
This is a great idea, but could I make a request? What about a version of this that only allows for movement between settlements? Yes, I know Journey already does something similar, but that is a much more involved mod where as this would do something very similar and much more light weight.
Aw dang I thought I finally found my answer to the problem of getting to a settlement in a DLC (Nuka world, Far Harbour) without having to go through multiple loading screens, especially if you are in Nuka World and have to travel to a Far Harbour settlement to defend it (3 loading screens and by the time you get there it's already too late). Alas, DLC's were never included.
Really good mod! I was looking for a thing like this for years.. Just a thing.. I can't get it to work. I'm on FO4 1.9 no other mods.. I load the holotape, select the location and just nothing happens. Any clue?
Not really any clue why it doesn't work, honestly. It runs from scripts, or pex files, and they make it work. There are a lot of Pex files with this one. The version shouldn't matter although I still run 1.8.7 because I am lazy about updating games.
Just make sure those Pex files are in the proper place (Data -> Scripts -> Fragments -> Terminals).
One of them that I forgot to script did that initially, but I fixed it since then.
Hey Derpsdale I was talking to Personal Teleportation Device (PTD) by SmithyPete about your mod earlier. He recommended I try this mod out to see how I like it - And well, I do like your setup But I saw you don't use the teleportation effect.
How would I be able to edit that in for myself personally??
Do you mean the teleportation explosion effect? Or am I missing something?
Either way it is easy to get either an IMAD or an Explosion to trigger via scripts on yourself. I do not mind if you want to play with this code all you want (just remember if you mess it up, come back and download it again). You will need the Source Code if you play with it otherwise the CK messes up when you double click on the script. It follows about the same path just under Source -> User -> Fragments -> Terminals then you should be able to see the script in the CK.
Feel free to PM me if you have questions, but do note if you plan to add this effect to them all it will be a VERY time consuming process.
The DLC might get tricky. When setting up properties for this mod in the CK I was targeting MapMarkers for everything, some being more obvious than others to find in all the jumbled mess that is ObjectReference Cell Properties. I did take a look at the DLCs and the obvious MapMarker references are few and far between, and some things are arranged annoyingly differently. If I do decide to make it it will be at a later date, also currently at only 1718 views in 6 days most people do not even seem interested in looking at this (which is a shame), however, I am really happy with the download rate in relation to the views it has gotten (over 20%). I will keep it in mind though, and I am glad that you enjoy it.
You don't have to use it for the locations you haven't discovered if you do not want to. It is still a very useful tool for quickly getting back to DC, Red Rocket, Sanctuary, Lexington, Goodneighbor, or any of the other main areas you might be to frequently and don't want to have to deal with the map.
I didn't put it with the cheats because it all depends on how you want to use it.
I didn't mean to offend, I just can't play with things like this because it allows me to do things like click the wrong place or simply could lul me into being lazy and not hoofing it to each location or simply removing the surprise of finding a place as I walk up on it.
That temptation is why I can't use mods that are perfectly balanced but for the one optional insta kill gun or cheat console.
Oh, I know. You didn't offend me at all. I was just trying to state a case for this mod.
However, among purists and players that do not like anything that you can even possibly cheat with, this mod will not be popular. I fully understand this and respect yours and other players that play this way method of playing Fallout 4 (a method I simply cannot do myself... much more fun to cheat or use shortcuts a bit lol). You are always welcome to come back and try it out if you ever decide to cheat a bit, of course.
I was just hoping there was a way to maybe run a script and only unlock locations in the list as the script detects you discovered them. Or have the tape check your discovery list.
I was kinda hoping that this was literally just an interface tweak. Maybe it would be easier to add an option to have a pop up that says something like "This is an undiscovered location, are you sure you want to fast travel?

This is the most likely option, however, since it just instantly goes after you click on a location might be a bit tricky to program. I think that I might know of a way though. All of this would require quite a considerable amount of work, enough so that I would probably want to release that version as a separate mod itself (not sure if that would go over well).
Assuming that this works in Hardcore mode, it might be cool to add a version which drops the tape into one's inventory upon joining up with the Institute, to replicate their teleportation tech in a relatively lore-friendly manner.
Is it possible to make an optional file that doesn't allow fast travel to undiscovered locations for those of us that don't like cheesing our way through?
It might be possible, but for right now I am going to stick with it the way it is.
Yes it is possible to cheese (cheese is delicious though...) with this mod, but you do not have to. Also, if you craft it legitly you need Science! 4 which requires Intelligence 6 and you need to be at least level 41. By then you should have maybe 60-80% of these locations if not more already discovered.

Please reply to this Sticky Comment with the Location(s) you wish for me to add in future updates.
Make sure they are Vanilla Fallout 4 Locations.

works like a charm, thank you again

If you have the time and desire adding those three DLC would be great!
