I know how to download, fix the topology, and retexture it, but I wouldn't put the work into it unless if someone helps animate and code for it. I do not how to do that stuff
Agreed, I remember seeing this a while ago and i just started playing fo4 again and came looking for a welrod mod. It's a sin nobody has made it yet, especially with the model already done.
I used to love this gun... Until i realized that i designed a better assassination gun that is way simpler and could be mass produced for the resistance. And don't let me start on the F###g liberator.
I posted a discussion on steam with a link to this page so hopefully someone will find this! I really hope this comes out, also if it means anything I would be willing to donate a small amount for custom animations
Edit: I've decided I will gladly donate $20 if this ever gets complete, $10 for the makers of the model, and $10 for the animators and stylists!
I love the welrod! I wish I knew jack about animating so I could create custom animations for this beaut and make it all authentic. Of course the model would have to be remodeled a bit to allow for the detachable handle magazine as well as that funky turning bolt-action shebang at the back of the barrel.
But honestly, if you're not worried about custom animations, going by your other comments, you should have zero, ZERO problems implementing this into the game. It's as easy as pie. Literally all you do is import the .obj into outfit studio, adjust the size and position of the gun so it lines up with where the viewmodel hands will hold onto it, make sure the geometry is unskinned, copy paste some shitty gun in the CK and fiddle with the values, then assign the gun model in the CK to use the welrod .nif.
Shoot, I'll prove to you how easy it is. http://oi65.tinypic.com/j0e2gx.jpg
By the way, can't happen but notice you modeled it after the MK II. Nice! You only ever see the MK I depicted in media, but the MK II is the way radical one IMO. Hope this gets finished some day.
The Deliverer is a semi-automatic...The Welrod is pretty much a bolt-action pistol. Single shot, cocked from the rear and the grip itself is the magazine. Animations would have to be entirely custom for it to look right.
You're right, this gun should have custom animations. But, for the sake of getting it into the game more quickly, I'd be willing to see it with in game animations as I know making those requires a lot more work needed to complete this weapon.
I dont usually comment but on this occasion I just can't not. Number one: you've only gone and picked my all-time favourite handgun to replicate so nice one! Number two: your model is awesome, but for a few things I'd like to point out below. Obviously, this is just my opinion from my own experience with 3D firearms so feel free to take with a pinch of salt
Nerf. Them. Pollys.
Your model is much more complicated than it has to be as far as the mesh goes. Take, for example, the screw-heads holding the magazine well to the main cylinder. I think you could detach those from the main body of the mesh and save a load of polygons that at present are just there to keep the screws part of the main body.
Same with the rear of the bolt/charging handle. That segment is just weird.
A bit of cleaning up and optimizing will work wonders for this piece, and make it much more user-friendly for other modders. Fantastic job otherwise though
Thanks for the constructive feedback! Always nice to see someone else who loves the Welrod haha. As far as the poly count, you make a really good point. I figured having a super high res version of the pistol would also make the gun more enticing for someone to want to mod, but I can see why having a high poly count could be a negative thing.
I'll go ahead and make a lower poly count version that reduces the screw heads to flat circles (and make sure they're represented in the textures), reduces the complexity of the bolt handle, and in general has less triangles, and then upload that alongside the current version.
Again, thank you for the feedback. Here's to hoping someone picks this up! Or at least makes a decent guide on weapon making for FO4
