I'm sadly not an animator. All I did was change a few keywords around. There IS a keyword that forces one-handed animations, but using it makes the gun stop working whenever you try to reload it.
any chance of getting the Lever-action rifle added to this as well I always loved using the Lever-action rifle as a mare's leg its always been the done thing for me but hate using the rifle perks for it as its only a small caliber gun and when cut down so small is easily classed as a pistol
I tried to do that in the first version of the mod. It worked only in third-person and broke the reload animation (and reloading, period), so I removed it. It's a task for someone with more knowledge/experience than just changing keywords in FO4Edit.
It changes certain keywords to make the gun use different perks depending on stock. The renaming is a side effect caused by FO4s automatic naming system.
No, this mod makes specific edits to weapon records (Hunting rifle and Double-barreled shotgun) and Object Modification records (Hunting rifle, Double-barreled shotgun and Handmade Rifle) to allow them to switch perk dependencies like the Pipe, Laser and Plasma weapons do. I'm downloading Widow now to see if I can make a patch.
UPDATE: tl;dr: Widow Shotgun patch up now. Long version: Removed keyword "WeapontypeRifle" from base weapon. Added keyword "WeapontypeRifle" to long stock. Added keyword "WeapontypePistol" to short stock. Changed keyword "GripRifle" to "GripPistol" on short stock.
Thank you for this mod and the info on how you did it. I was able to do a version of this on the Crude blow back found in Raider overhaul. Thanks again.
Will you be adding Laser Muskets to this list? I would so love to have a short barreled laser musket in one hand like a flintlock pistol and blow someones head away.
While it is entirely possible to do, I have avoided the Laser Musket because I thought the short stock was just that, and not an actual pistol grip. However, at a closer look it seems the short stock looks more like what you would find on a crossbow, so I really don't know how it would work lore-wise. On the other hand, the Salvaged Assaultron Head (the actual 'pistol' version of the Laser Musket) is horrible, so I might do a mod for the LM anyway.
Short answer: for WSE, I have no idea. LM is 100% compatible.
Long answer: Installing WSE for myself to check is way too involved a process. However, if you already have WSE, download this mod and open it up in FO4Edit along with WSE, then right-click in the left pane and select "Apply filter". If this mods name comes up orange, it overwrites something in WSE and needs to be patched (which is very easily done btw).
Note: If you do check for compatability, feel free to reply with your findings and I'll add the info under the 'Compatability' header.
Any chance for a small video\in-game screenshots showing the changes to the weapons? Instead of just a picture of a short hunting rifle. The idea looks interesting, but I'd rather know exactly what I'm downloading and installing.
I'll be uploading screenshots in a while, the hunting-rifle image was a bit of a stopgap. That said, the visuals and animations haven't been edited, I've just added around three keywords to each grip and removed one from each rifle. Everything else is vanilla.
Edit: So Steam screenshots doesn't work for me, and Printscreen just gives me a 1920x1200 px black rectangle. I'll figure it out sooner or later.
