Update: Having a baby is a lot more involved than Fallout 4 made it seem.
Since people are still interested this, I'm going to try and squash as many bugs as I can and get an updated version out. As for the version on Bethesda.net, that was uploaded without my permission. The screenshot included in the description on Bethesda.net is also fake.
For anyone that is having texture issues when using this mod with other mods here do this it helped me so much and made it where white voids or walls were missing thank me later location to also find this is - Documents - My games - fallout 4 and then just place that in Don't know if this will work for everyone, but for me I went into Fallout4Custom.ini and put
bUseCombinedObjects=0 bUsePreculledObjects=1
under

I usually only do this if I have textures in a mod I'm trying out flickering in and out. Was having the same problem as everyone in this thread with this mod today and tried this and for some reason it worked. Word of caution: doing this might impact your FPS in downtown Boston. But then again what doesn't?
Does this mod have any conflicts? The path to the basement doesn't clear and even using tcl to get to the basement resulted in the elevator not letting me up.
This is probably super late but some info for other people or even myself in the future. If you use Previsibines Repair Pack or PRP, Combat Zone Restored needs to load after that. Don't think LOOT will do that so had to do it manually.
When FO4 gets a Special Edition treatment or equivalent it'll be a crime if they don't re-integrate Cait's cut content in the Combat Zone that this mod restores. Kudos.
lol "unrealistic companion". Nowadays, everything is "unrealistic", unrealistic body shape, unrealistic face, unrealistic hair, unrealistic ass, unrealistic this and that. Little did they know(probably didn't get out much, twitter is a whole world for them) that humans got multiple personalities, body shapes, faces etc., making these "unrealistic" thing they talk about, actually possible. Not to mention that this is a game. xD
Fine I'll take the bait. Fallout 4 is trying to be the 'Cyberpunk of Fallout'. Now does it succeed at that. No. Does it do some things right. Yes. Nick for example is amazing. Easily the best companion in ANY modern fallout. As for Cait, though not perfect they were again going for a Fallout take on a classic cyberpunk trope: the female fighter (sometimes a pilot too) who uses drugs to push her limits but goes too far. Best example of this trope is the female lead from Jonny Neumonic. Writers were aware of this trope and tried to incorporate it, but missed the mark a tad as they often did in this game.
tl;dr she'd not as bad as you think. actually a clever reference to a recurring character type in cyberpunk genre
Sure, the most unrealistic companion in Fallout 4 is Cait.
Not the 9 ft green man with muscles to crush a car, the hovering robot with 3 arms and a fhcking jet engine for an ASS, or the 2 androids who struggle with existential dread (the infiltrated medieval knight and the plastic post-nuclear police detective). Or the drug addict zombie. Or some dumbass minuteman LARPer in the middle of a nuclear wasteland.
No, a human girl. With traumas, an accent and an addiction.
I think they mean "unrealistic" seeing as she's irish? she has an irish accent, despite 200 years of other countries probably having no contact with each other.
...Also adding to this post later on she doesn't really...serve a purpose, y'know?
like, here is how i'd organize how the companions all contribute to fallout 4's story and/or worldbuilding (spoilers):
she's gotta tragic backstory (which i laughed at, sorry, but it felt like bethesda was trying to be over-the-top edgy again, like they did for kellogg) which is all she has other than being a bland irish stereotype. she doesn't really do anything lore-wise, right?
tbh i think people like her because she's hot or something (seeing as 100,000 mods edit her appearance/wardrobe/etc.) maybe its because i loathe the "powerful women" trope that, instead of ACTUALLY giving them interesting flaws and characterization, makes them strong in the physical sense along with the worst personality i've ever seen. like, i'd HATE them irl
sorry for the long and spacious comment (deacons + valentine are my fav and i complain about them too) but i genuinely don't get her appeal? maybe i'll understand eventually but i already completed her story and was like "??? that's it? that's your character development?"
Cait provides insight into the Raiders from a victim's POV, opposite of Gage's. Also no flaws? SHE'S LITTERALLY A DRUG ADDICT WITH PTSD. Her bad attitude comes from dealing with shitty people her whole life before she meets you. Her strength comes from surviving raider death arena for years and not some in born talent. Cait is the most realistic follower in this entire game, the rest except for Strong and the Courser guy are all too goody two shoe for me.
@ThePeachyPie I think it's more her story feels generic compared to how the other stories in the game are. Also sorry after reading that it just felt like you said "She's unrealistic cus she's irish" and it just made me laugh way too much lol.
fallout 4 showers you with caps regardless of this, why let something tiny like that bother your gameplay, money isnt important, its the fun, plus the author has been a father for 7 years if you read his posts, do you really think hes going to come back just to adjust some numbers for caps.
insanely buggy mod that breaks everything even if you play it very safely and carefully. missing textures, quests not completing/updating in the journal... issues upon issues upon issues. don't install this mod, looks like this s#*! was cut for a good reason.
It's buggy because it's not even suppose to be existing. This is just an attempt of some random individual to restore a not complete feature to the game. Blame Beth for not working/finishing it for the game, not the modder, who's alone and have little resource.

like, here is how i'd organize how the companions all contribute to fallout 4's story and/or worldbuilding (spoilers):
main factions: preston, x6-88, danse, deacon
lesser "factions" + races: maccready (gunners), gage (raiders), strong (super mutants), curie (vault-tec, synths), hancock (ghouls)
plot/story: valentine, piper, codsworth
dlcs: gage (again), ada, longfellow
building on prior fallout games: dogmeat, mccready (again)
and then...there's cait
