currently working on a deployable shield. finished the textures and mesh. ill put a pic up there so u can see for yourselves. i will only upload the finished product when it's done and does what it's supposed to do.
I know this mod is discontinued but I had a suggestion to make it work:
What if you could deploy this shield and pick it up with the 'grab' feature and carry it around like an object? You would probably want to lock the rotation on the X and Y axis if possible, allowing the player to just rotate horizontally if needed. And I would also suggest locking the distance the shield is from the player close enough so that it would be viable to shoot through the opening in the shield. I like both of your shield mods (deployable and armor) but a mix of the two with this feature would be incredible.
Either way, great work. This is definitely something we need in this game.
I know this mod is discontinued. But I like this riot shield that you can carry with you than a static deploy-able shield.
Obviously the idea would make you block bullets from 1 direction. That can be impossible without lots of work (lots and lots). But why can't you give it high armor and also have a damage threshold? It makes the shield carrier immune to any damage under the Threshold value. Anyone who has a weapon that can do more than 50 damage will have a chance to put a dent in the shield carrier.
Reason: Small pipe pistol gun fire literately does nothing to a shield (akin to using a small automatic weapon on a tank). Someone with a big shot gun or a strong sniper rifle can start to at least have enough force to affect the shield carrier. Ideally it should be directional damage blocker and also allow others to shoot through the slot (like Mass Effect 2, players can shoot in the slot and have a quick kill of what otherwise a tough enemy with a riot shield). But that is a bit too much to deal with. So we can live with the above damage threshold.
yea i tried putting perks on the weapon that gives tons of armor and such but i never successfully did it. i have no idea how it works even from playing around with it. cant seem to find any tutorials that could help me
The unique Fatman from https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/30529 has like 900 ballistic resistance or something like that, that's sorta like armor. It has this legendary effect because it has a huge shield on it that covers whole screen almost. Using some other mods that add shields to guns that raise the defense the gun can grant, maybe ask them how they did it?
Take a look at the "PTRS-1" weapon mod. Some of the guns in that mod have shield accessories (not a full shield like you have here, more like a blowback shield on a heavy turret) that adds armor rating when you're standing still and aiming through the sights. Might get some ideas on how they do it.
the description seems to be the weapon giving the Rooted perk. i tried to put it on the gun but i guess it's on the wrong place as it does not work at the moment
i think that i know what you could do meanwhile to make the shield more effective! give the shield a armor legendary effect which blocks kinetic damage! try finding one of those in the vanilla game or create one if you cant find any
