i really like this mod . it's great. if you made a version weaker of it is better, because it kick out the other weapon out of race . start 50 upgrading blade to 80 i really want this katana in game. i think it's better if you place it some where after a hard fight like a reward to catch. another thing i can say about the the mode is : name is great. at the end thank you for this great mod and sry about my eng
Actually i set it's damage equal to super sledge, so it isn't a one hit kill weapon with thousands damage. But yeah it is pretty strong because it's damage is based on the strongest weapon in the game.
Although the way you get this weapon makes it overpowered, you get it from console. So you can start a new game and that's it, you got super sledge equal weapon if you want, just type in. Of course you can get super sledge from console too but it's not the way to get it, but for my mod it's the only way.
Why sorry for your english if it's not your main language. It's not my main either.
no offense but are you planning to get into a sword fight at a neon rave because if so this is the perfect weapon for that elsewhere not so much and looks like a chap kiddy weapon from dead rising but not bad for your first tiem atleast the shape isn't ridiculous
Actually at first i was thinking of hf muramasa from metal gear rising revengeance. But model is nothing like it and i decided not to mention about it. If i can make it better i will update it. Thank you for honest criticism.
your welcome also the newer modle looks good but a katana has a curved blade and by curved it bends back at a bit of an angle toward you have a look at the shiskebab it's a katana use that for reference material
np but really use the shiskabob for a reference guide to make a better looking katana it would make the work on yourself easier an such but it's just my opinion and suggestion
not bad for your first, but this isn't a katana. its a ninjato. the difference being the lack of a curved blade. Ninjatos are straight blades similar to katanas, and as the name implies, were used by ninja clans, wile katanas were used by samurai.
Yep, confirmed. It is a Ninjato. The Ninjas back in the day would pinch steel-banded wagon wheels and bash lengths of the metal straight to form the blades. Don't get me wrong - this is still a great mod - a simple change of the MOD Title will earn the Kudos of all the Bostonian Ninjas out there...!
I like this katana and I think that you did a wonderful job with it being your first mod. A few things, there are katanas with straight blades. The word katana is really a broad term. It means long sword and there are many different styles. The one you have here has no sori (curvature of the blade) and is known as a mu sori blade.
As for the textures, all you really need to do is make sure that you have a good unwrap job. You can get pictures off of the internet and crop them to place on this sword. Since you do not have the ito (handle wrapping) modeled you could go with a wood grain for tsuka (handle). For the blade get a photo of a real sword blade and use paint or another application to apply it. What program are you using to texture your models? If you have access to photoshop that would really help you out.
Also for the makeup of the sword, I think you did well. The tsuba (guard) has so many different styles and shapes that you can make it look any way that you want too. The is the beauty of modding, you make what you want.
To help you in your modeling I would look at photos of swords or if you have a real one look at that. Pay attention to the geometry of the blade and how things fit together. If you're able to make that come across in your model it will look correct. The human eye is trained to recognize patterns and that is why we can always tell when something looks wrong. We might not be able to say what it is but we can tell something isnt correct. So just pay attention to how a real sword is made up and try to transfer that to your model.
No one ever makes an awesome first model. My first model that I did was one of a tank that I did in a 3d modeling class and man did it suck. So just keep at it and you'll get there. Your off to a great start. The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy modeling. Once you really get the hang of it, it is a lot of fun. Looking forward to your future work.
Sorry for very delayed reply. Thank you very very much for your informational comment. I really appreciate it. I updated the textures recently and i think it is much better right now. I am looking forward to hear your opinions about it.
I have been watching your progress on this. I have always considered trying something like this myself, but haven't ever found the time. Just wanted to say that you are making good progress with this model, and to keep up the good work.
Props for starting to mod and putting it out there for critizism. No one was good right away and I want to encourage you to polish it a bit more. The handle does not really look like a Katanas, some may have 'guards' but most seriously don't and if they do they're mostly decorative. The blade could use a slightly better curve still. I am not sure what tools you are using, but I got some experience with 3dsmax and photoshop, not enough to be pleased with whatever I'd first produce, but enough to give some tips at least.
Constructive criticism, or at least an attempt. Obviously, the textures need quite a bit of work. (The glowing red makes it look like a candy stick) The guard is pretty thick, maybe trim it down by half and make it a bit smaller. I suppose the model is okay for a first modding attempt, but that texture is still the main glaring issue. good luck with further attempts, Randomdayi
I am having very hard time with textures. Like i said i'm new to all of that modelling and texturing. And textures are giving me headaches. Thank you for constructive criticism.
